Welcome back! I actually had this update just about ready to publish for over a week, but then it got hot and sunny and I was more interested in outdoor adventures. Summer is here! So I probably won't post as much for a while. :)
Anyway, on to the newlyweds!
Siblings Ahio and Rainui Heimata moved out of their shared hut into the Men's and Women's Huts, respectively. Then they each got married and now all four are back in the Heimata Hut.
However, I completely forgot this hut was where half the household started out, and when playing around in SimPE one day, I thought it would be fun to rename their family. So I did. I'll probably change it back to Heimata eventually though. :D
And we start off with everysim running to check out a lightning fire that either glitched out to be invisible or is very well hidden behind this tree.
On the bright side, lots of water for their plumbing now!
Wanting to befriend a child is kind of like wanting a baby, right?
Meanwhile, Rainui is just focusing on her career right now. Matching want with her hubby though, so that's cute!
I was experimenting with a different hair texture, so Rainui needed a quick fix to get rid of those bangs.
Rainui: But I liked my flippy hair.
I made it up to her by letting her playtest the Village Harbour, where I'd added a few more fun items.
It doesn't look so impressive in pictures, but it's kind of a cool lot. It's shaped to look like it's coming from the Village Market, which slopes down into a canyon, and that canyon turns into this dry riverbed leading to the sea that would look SO COOL if it were possible to have running water in this game. But it's not so it can just look kind of cool.
Rewi: What is Amiria thinking, sitting on the chief's throne? Doesn't she know the consequences of such a crime?!
I think that's Rewi. I need to make myself an illustrated guide to madeover townies...
In my defense, there's a Rewi, Rewha, and Rera, so it gets confusing!
Rainui bought herself a new outfit as I am sick to death of that one, it being the only maternity option. Though in hindsight, when she does get pregnant it would be neat to have a pregnant Sim wearing the same as her everyday clothes for once...
I keep referring to the local currency as shells, but maybe they are actually shiny stones? I'm not sure! Either way, they are pretty.
Is that a reflection of a hut on them??
Rainui: Why are there changing booths here if I can't even change my clothes in them?!
I guess the designers were too busy ensuring the public woohoo option worked they forgot to test the change clothes option. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Home again in time for promotion central. Sadly, career-driven Rainui is the only Sim who doesn't get one. :(
With all these promotion bonuses, the Heimata-Whetus buy themselves an oven. Nosim has enough cooking points to be able to use it yet. :D
They also acquire a new set of hands to help out around the house. Likely there will be babies soon, and also with all Sims working, it would be nice to have somesim around to do chores. Also I really want more kids around for my playable children to befriend!
Hanu: Thank you for picking me, kui-artisan! My name is Hanu and I will be the best help you can have! I can clean and gather firewood and fish and...
Kiri: Talk?
Hanu: I am very good at talking too!
Ahio: Sorry, you need to speak up. I have trouble hearing above my sister constantly making out with her husband.
Rainui: Maybe if you kissed your wife a bit more it wouldn't bother you, brother dear...
Ahio: Ow!!
Emobi: Ha! I knew an artisan could not stand up against the arm of a true warrior. I believe we agreed on 20 shells, weakling...
Ahio: There was nothing in our bet about name-calling!
Ahio takes his bruised arm (and even more bruised pride) to the solace of his wife.
Kiri: Did he hurt you much?
Ahio: Not too much. With a sister like Rainui, you would think I'd be used to it by now.
Kiri: To feel things more deeply than others is often a gift...but sometimes a curse as well.
Ahio: And to speak kindly is always your gift. I am glad to have married a gentle spirit as you. Shall we, uh...complete the marriage?
Kiri: I'm as ready as you are.
Ahio senses Kiri's nervousness, and tries to put a brave face on for both of them, but, well...he's nervous too! He would rather be with
another Sim right now, but that isn't the way their fates aligned. He's married to Kiri now, and he knows she's wonderful-too good for him, anyway.
Maybe he doesn't love her the way he feels for Erita-like a fire burning in his belly-but maybe he could love her in the same calm, gentle way she simply is.
I don't know if I just read a lot of books with poison plots, but I always assumed nightshade = poisonous is common knowledge. And I figure if Kiri has enough knowledge to 1) recognize and name this plant, and 2) know when it will bloom, she would also know about its poisonous attributes. What I'm basically saying is this chance card should lose one point of Logic skill.
Hanu spends most of the day stocking the food basket because there aren't many chores right now...especially chores that kids can do. I didn't really think through this plan of hiring a child! Hopefully he'll be a teen by the time the babies start popping out, as nanny duty is mostly what he's here for.
I did fiddle with townies' ages a bit to make them not all exactly the same, and the die roll determined Hanu is the oldest townie kid, so it shouldn't be too long.
Nothing like a promotion to get a couple of Fortune Sims in the mood!
The other couple are much more restrained with their affections, but at least they have affections!
Hanu: Ahera! Did you come to check on me? Everything is good here! I like this family, and I keep everything clean, and I can catch really big fish now! How are my friends? Do you all miss me?
Ahera: It's certainly quieter without you there anymore...
Ahera: Now, if you want to catch the biggest fish, you have to be sure to hold the rod like this: not too tight, but a little bit relaxed so that when they pull away... Oof!
Hanu: It worked! Hm, not quite as big as the one I caught this morning...but still worth keeping! Good tip, Ahera!
Hanu: Good evening, koro-warrior! Did you enjoy the fish? I picked out the biggest one for you because I know a mighty warrior must have the biggest appetite.
Emobi: Don't forget my wife is a mighty warrior too.
Hanu: I never would! I know she is a great hunter too. Is it true she fought off three jaguars with a broken spear?
Hanu is absolutely enamoured by Emobi, which is pretty cute. The surprising thing is that grumpy Emobi warmed up quickly to the little chatterbox. I suppose he recognizes Hanu's good taste in heroes. ;)
Ahio took a late-night stroll out in the jungle, and while the lot was loading up, some hooligan tampered with the fountain.
Ahio: Please stop the lava! I came here to relax!
Much better. :)
Until...
Seriously, there's a castaway version of the toilet brush and acne cream, but not for the soap box? :(
Ahio: So much for my relaxing evening... Who could have done such a thing?
He sees the wise old shaman chuckling to himself as he walks away. Sometimes Ahio wonders if that man is not all there anymore. It's a good thing he retired.
Orama, please. You're supposed to be the brainy one.
What a beautiful night! Nosim can blame him for staying out late to admire the stars...
...and the other beautiful sights the jungle has to offer.
Erita: I hope you weren't waiting long. The chief was late to go to bed.
Ahio: No, not long. But I worried about you. It's a far walk. You must be tired too.
Erita: I sleep most of the day. But my back does get sore... The baby will come soon, I think.
Ahio: I wish...
Erita: That it was yours?
Ahio: No. I mean, yes...but not like this. I wish I had married you when I had the chance and we could be meeting together openly, not behind the backs of the chief and my...
Erita: Shh. Tonight, we are the only two in the world.
Erita: I need to go.
Ahio: So do I, though I wish we could stay. Do you think you can get away again soon?
Erita: Not too soon. After the baby. I think it's a boy. It has to be. After it's born, he will not pay me so much attention and we can meet more often. It will be easier then.
Ahio: I hope you're right.
Rainui: Evening, brother. You were out late.
Ahio: Just walking. Must you constantly do that when I'm here?
Rainui: Ohhh, back in a bad mood again. Did somesim step on a snake while he was out?
Everysim is up late that night. Maybe it's silly to make the bed right before they all go to bed, but Hanu likes to be thorough!
He told Ahera the truth: He does like it here. But sometimes, especially late at night when he's all alone outside, he desperately misses his friends.
Ahio: I'm sorry to be out so late. You didn't need to wait up for me.
Kiri: I don't mind. I had something to tell you.
Kiri: We are going to have a baby!
Ahio: I... Are you sure?
Kiri: Are you not happy?
Ahio: No, I... I did not think it would happen so quickly. I was sure Rainui would be first... But this is good news!
So much for easier...
Notes:
- I think I mentioned before that I'm using a risky woohoo mod for this game, and I also have quiet pregnancy (no lullabye), and something to hide the "try for baby" option (possibly rolled in with the risky woohoo, I don't remember for sure), so pregnancies are a fun surprise now! I really thought Rainui and Emobi would be parents first, seeing as they are actually a devoted couple...
- Re: Ahio & Erita's affair... I've been playing by wants to see how they go. Day one Ahio was almost totally focused on his wife, which was nice, but day two he had a want panel full of Erita's face, so I let him set up a midnight meeting.
- I want to incorporate the townie population more, hence this quest to give almost everyone a live-in servant, but boy is it hard to find chores for them to do! I was especially disappointed (but not really surprised) to find kids can't use the machete, hatchet, or pickaxe to harvest resources. I've since downloaded a bunch of the Sun&Moon stations, so I'm looking forward to playing around with those next time. Child labour, whee! :D
Next time: the hyena paradise of Shady Lagoon where David Bennett makes questionable decisions. I'm looking forward to it...whenever I get around to posting it. ;)
Once again, thanks for reading!
