Inception post

Saw Inception with nuclearsugars yesterday. It was amazing, just like everyone said it was. I want to watch it again. And what a cast! I do love Leo DiCaprio, I must admit. He has had my heart ever since Catch Me If You Can.

First things first, that little top fell. I can't even entertain the idea in my mind that it might not have fallen, it is just not a possibility in my interpretation of the film.

I love that Ellen Page's character was named Ariadne. In Greek mythology, Ariadne navigated Theseus through the labyrinth. And for Ariadne in the film to have to come up with mazes for the architecture of the dream, well its almost too perfect, haha. But since I had been dying with curiosity on why they had chosen that name ever since I saw it come up in someone's post, the payoff of understanding was awesome.

OMG THE DADDY ISSUES! When Fischer pulled that pinwheel out of the safe, I fucking lost it, you guys. I was, like, bawling. I'm telling you, that emotional payoff? That inception TOOK. I'm a little sad that they never visited what happened afterward for Fischer, because Fischer and Cobb were the two characters that we really got the backstory and the emotional investment in. And Cobb reuniting with his children? That hit my daddy issues trigger, too. It's really interesting how little we find out about the aftermath, or even how they got hold of this equipment. The movie and its timeline are purely focused on Cobb, and Saito a little bit. I feel like even knowing more about how they started working with the shared dreams would give more information as to whether the top fell over, because Cobb's paranoia about being chased around the world was part of Mal's reasoning that his reality might be a dream. It's a mystery to us, the viewer, but somehow I think it would be much more concrete to Cobb.

While I can totally see how one might ship everyone with everyone, the film has left me a little too emotionally raw to really want to delve into too much fic of it, but I am very interested to see what sorts of fusions and crossovers happen with the universe. And while I can appreciate Arthur and Eames and Ariadne and so on for their hotness, I feel like I still don't really know them well enough to not have their characterization totally colored by fic instead of informed from the film. And I'm just not ready to do that to them yet.

Also, can we talk about how fucking beautiful the film was? Not just the actors and actresses, because yeow, but the effects and the cinematography! Just gorgeous!

Also, I just realized that the original architect from the beginning was also in Brick with JGL. I knew he looked familiar! If any of you have not seen Brick, YOU NEED TO. I also just had to look up the blonde from the 2nd level who Eames was disguised as to distract Fischer: she was Miss Evangelista from Doctor Who Silence in the Library!!

Sometimes I wish for falling, wish for the release, wish for falling through the air to give me some relief,
because falling's not the problem, when I'm falling I'm at peace.
It's only when I hit the ground that causes all the grief.
