feeling the sense of irony as i read dw's OPA posts whilst munching through some chocolate ginger...
tbh, i'm really looking forward to being able to exercise again. i'm full of good intentions to take bud out in his buggy, let him get some fresh air while i get a nice walk. of course, it'll probably snow and i'll be stuck in the house for the whole winter, but hey, the intention is there ;o)
have been keeping busy, whilst trying to be lazy in between. we had a weekend away from home last weekend, which started with my grandma's second 90th birthday party - she's like the queen - has a real one and an official one :o) actually, no - she had her first party near her actual birthday in March, but one of her daughters lives in new zealand, and wasn't coming over til summer, hence the second party (it's also her 65th). she was over here because her partner is the psychologist for the new zealand olympic team, despite having tried to retire on a few occasions now, i believe. but, timing aside, it was a really nice day, with lovely food (FIVE different cakes!), and a chance to catch up with family we haven't seen for ages.
after the party we headed up the m6 to steve's mum and dad's house, as it was actually really steve's dad's birthday. they don't really make a big deal of birthdays, but we went anyway, and took chocolate cake, which is very important for birthdays, whether the birthdayee wishes to celebrate officially or not. we looked through the giant box of stuff that steve's mum has knitted for bud so far - honestly, i dread to think where we're going to put it all. this baby has a scary amount of stuff already and he's not even here yet - so much for not wanting to get anything until he's safely here.
talking of safely here, he's still there, still the wrong way up, still seeming quite happy with that arrangement, so we'll have to see if he decides to turn in time, or whether he'll be "coming out through the sunroof" as steve so delicately puts it! i've had a check up today, and apart from blood pressure being a little high (130/80) all seems fine. seven weeks to go...
only four more weeks of work though, and i've finally (this morning, eleven weeks later) got access to everything i need to work from home. it's taken four trips to the IT department at kingsway, and three to the IT department at cardinal square, but today we finally got there. it's quite a novelty to be able to actually access files again and (and here's the really radical bit) actually make changes to them. it's amazing what i've come to take for granted over the last 20 years of owning a computer that functions :o)
no more reading matter completed yet - halfway through "dance dance dance" by haruki murakami. i love his books - very odd, but so readable.
