NYC and Cupcakes

May 29, 2007 10:18

Long time since my last entry and so much has happened.

Last Saturday (5/19), we went into the city for the day.  Our goal was
to get some maps and explore some.  We did not have much planned.  We
took the bus into the city, much easier than trying to find a parking
spot on a nice Saturday.  We checked out a few stores.  Walked through
the Union Square farmers market. Had lunch at "Chat 'n' chew." (10 E
16th St)  They were only serving brunch, so I did not have my normal
turkey dinner. Next we were off to the Nespresso store (Upper East
Side) for some pods for our espresso machine.  We got lots of pods, so
the next time anyone is at the house they can have a coffee.
Walked down to the Apple store (South East Corner of Central
Park) and looked at all the ipod and Mac accessories. Bought a
keyboard protector, since I have been know to spill stuff on laptops.
Asked the sales people about the iTV.  It doesn't seem to do much,
can't record from the TV.  Saw some other interesting stuff, but
didn't buy anything else.  Walked across Central park to the Columbus
Circle subway station.
Took the subway to Chelsea Market.  First stop, a bakery (I
forget the name). We each had a cupcake. Both had lots of icing, but
were a little dry.  From there we went to the Thai restaurant.  We had
a few appetizers there and bought some tea and noodles from their
market to make at home.  Next stop, an Italian grocery store (still in
Chelsea Market).  Now we know where all the Food Network people shop.
  You know they film for the Food Network in Chelsea Market.
Next stop was the cupcake shop in Books of Wonder (18 West 18th
Street).  Another nice looking cupcake (Maple Walnut), but again it
was kinda dry.  Nice little shop, if you like children's books.  We
bought the book, "Tails are not for pulling."  A cute book about not
pulling on your dog's tail. We also picked up some more B/W dog
postcards.  It was starting to rain harder by this point, so we headed
home.

We did not make it to Burgers and Cupcakes (265 West 23rd Street), but
we will next time.

That's it for this entry; I am going to try for another entry later today.
