yesterday afternoon, i took this photo. i'd been meaning to take a photo of this building for a long time, because they started knocking it down recently and i know i don't have much longer to go. what you see here is actually less than half the original structure. that thing was huge!

paestum is the site of the largest intact greek temples outside of greece. the most famous one, the top part of which is pictured below, is now known as the temple of apollo (though i still think of it as the temple of hera, which is what i was taught in my history of architecture I textbook).

next door to where we were staying on key west was a butterfly sanctuary, which we went to one day. they also had birds and turtles there. (edit: a few of the butterfly photos were actually taken by my boyfriend)
