Session Start (Armand-mun:#desperatefans-2): Sat Jul 30 21:39:15 2005

ArmandStJust: *smiles tentatively* It looks like I have terrible timing.

Cassandra: Oh, no...I just...don't like Ares that much, is all.

ArmandStJust: From what I've seen of the brute, who would?

Cassandra: *small smile* Right. You wanted to talk to me?

ArmandStJust: *looks for something to sit upon* Sit please? I must, and I don't want to be rude.

Cassandra: *sits on a settee*

ArmandStJust: *sits on a nearby settee* I hate to be indelicate, but I was told by a friend that you and I may have something in common. *won't look up from the ground*

Cassandra: Oh? Which friend, and what?

ArmandStJust: It was Chauvelin, actually, though I am not certain why he'd know such personal information about you.

Cassandra: *twitches* He seems to have personal information about everybody.
Cassandra: What...what particular information was this?

ArmandStJust: *looks for anything resembling a polite way to put it* That you were taken advantage of by a man? He didn't say as much, but... said you have experienced something similar to what has happened to me recently. I can only guess that was what he meant.

Cassandra: *stares at him* Oh...well, yes, that would be right.

ArmandStJust: Was it a long time ago?

Cassandra: It doesn't seem like it. I've rather lost track of time since I died.

ArmandStJust: *eyes widen* Was that how you were killed? Oh, I hope not.

Cassandra: Not directly, no.
Cassandra: it's rather a long story.

ArmandStJust: Is it painful to tell?

Cassandra: Not so much anymore. Do you really want to hear it?

ArmandStJust: It may make it easier to tell my tale, and -everyone- says I should talk about it.

Cassandra: All right.
Cassandra: My brother ran away with the wife of an enemy king, which led to a ten-year war. Eventually, we lost due to my twin brother's betrayal and the cunning of an enemy leader.

ArmandStJust: *listens, studying her face anxiously*

Cassandra: In the course of the sacking of our city, I...was assaulted while seeking refuge. Ironically, it happened in the temple of the god who had tried to seduce me and had cursed me when I rejected him.

ArmandStJust: *eyes widen* Oh.

Cassandra: *shaky breath* After that, I was taken in the spoils of the High King of the enemy...and I was his mistress for several years while we were lost at sea...until we made it back to his country and were both mudered by his jealous wife and her lover.

ArmandStJust: That sounds terrible. *is pale* Were you treated kindly at all during that time?

Cassandra: Well, Agamemnon-the High King of Mycenae-wasn't entirely unkind. *tears up* Especially not after our children were born.

ArmandStJust: Did you care for -him- at least?

Cassandra: I think I came to, a little. We were together for over a year, practically isolated.

ArmandStJust: *shudders* I am very... grieved to hear of your distress.

Cassandra: *sad shrug* I knew it would happen. Right down to my murder, I had seen it all.

ArmandStJust: It is the kind of thing that no one sure have to endure.

Cassandra: yet some do.

ArmandStJust: What else can we do when faced with vi-- violence?

Cassandra: If I knew that...deus.

ArmandStJust: It isn't easier. I was hoping--

Cassandra: Yes?

ArmandStJust: I was kidnapped from my home and abused. I am still having nightmares and panic attacks, esp. when I think of certain things that ought to be more pleasant. Yet it wasn't so long ago. Did your fears ever fade?

Cassandra: *long pause* There was one night after the sacking when I had a nightmare, or a vision, or something, and woke up screaming. I remember Agamemnon woke up, and he sat up all night with me because I couldn't go back to sleep. And every night it happened after that, he sat with me, until finally the dreams stopped.

ArmandStJust: How long did it take?

Cassandra: A few months. I think they stopped shorlty after a discovered I was pregnant...maybe three months?

ArmandStJust: *nods* That's something. Though I'm not likely to get pregnant. *sighs*

Cassandra: It helps to have someone there.
