Edit: All Fixed!!! Yay!

I am absolutely about to lose it. As in, Batshit-Shirley-Phelps-Roper losing it. And over what? Some damned animated smilies! It seems when I changed my smilies, the transparencies didn’t hold on the animated ones. I fixed the four that were like that, re-uploaded them, and noticed that

…the animated smilies are STILL showing up with a white background when using a different colored page background, such as the pink seen in this blockquote.

See?

Even though they they definitely show up with a transparent background against my host’s grey page background. Okay. It’s only going to be a problem if I try to use one of the smilies against a background color other than white. Which won’t happen all that often, granted, but it is making me crazy that the image isn’t doing what it should. I am totally okay with admitting that maybe I just don’t know what I’m doing after all, and that that’s probably the problem.

But, wait! What’s this?

If you’ll notice, it’s one of the EXACT SAME smilies, uploaded to the EXACT SAME folder (default smilies), using the EXACT SAME different-colored background (blockquote). The only difference is that it’s at my test blog….the one I try to use so I don’t mess up my main site while messing with code. In other words, there are no differences, other than the url. Oh yeah, there’s one more, major difference. The smiley works as it should on the test blog.

So…..are my OLD smilies, which I deleted, just going to be forever associated with my blog for some reason? I did delete them. I uploaded the new ones. I checked the new ones out. They work as they should, yet they don’t…on this particular site. Will this straighten itself out somehow?

I think that’s what burns me up the most about the whole thing….that there is no logical explanation for why the graphic works on the test site, and not on this one.

I know it’s not the end of the world or anything. But really….WTF?
