Vast quantities. Killing is necessary for a vampire's survival.

And do you regret it?

Some of them, at times. *faint, wry smirk* The less necessary ones.

The unnecessary ones?

Mhm. I have not always limited myself to killing for survival.

Could I have an example?

Why?

I'm curious, and I don't believe I fully understand.

I see little point in regretting the deaths of those who sate my hunger - the suicidal, the sick, the "evil". The destruction I have wrought without such just cause is quite another matter.

If you truly wish for an example: There was a child, a vampire child whose fondest wish was to have the women's body denied to her for so long. The horror of her suffering at my hands has not left me - I made a monster of her that would have fired Mary Shelley's imagination, and not from any true desire to carry out her wishes. Simply, I wished to see what would happen, what could be achieved, and tortured her beyond all imagination in the process.

I'll make a note not to be around whenever you're hungry.

Very interesting. What did you find?

*smiles* That would be prudent.

... That it was possible to reanimate her, but in so hideous a shape as to be entirely inadvisable. Even vampiric healing can only do so much.

*smiles back* I may be evil, but I'm not stupid.

My. What did you do to her'?

Swapped her body with that of a full-grown vampire woman's.
