Mrs Strange finds this a very sensible idea. As she doubts her culinary abilities, and does not think growing flowers will translate easily to growing crops, Mrs Arabella Strange signs her name very neatly as a kitchen hand. Perhaps it is undignified, but really. This is hardly London society.

He gives her a nod and a little smile, almost. "Once we've got enough people, we'll be setting regular mealtimes, to make it easier on everyone."

"A fine idea, sir," she says with a smile. "I wonder no one thought of it sooner."

He grumbles a bit. "Yes, well. With no one in charge."

"I suppose so," she says. "Though simply deciding that one person shall be in charge hardly ensures that that person will have good ideas."

"Well, that's no reason to have no one in charge, etiher."

"No, indeed. I did not mean to suggest it."

He nods. "Well. I'm used to getting food on tables, at least. Beyond that, someone else'll have to do."

"Are you, sir? Might I ask what was your previous profession?"

"I was the king's steward, ma'am."

"My!" she says, sounding appropriately impressed.

He chuckles. "He is the leader, my lady. I just run the finances and the kitchens."

"Having run a household of my own, sir, I am well aware that that is no easy task."

A little smile. "Well. I try, at least."

"If this is any indication," she says, nodding towards his sign, "I am sure you do a splendid job."
