Got back home around 3 in the morning after a late study session cum intervention. I was hoping to crash after finishing up an assignment only to find the AC dripping onto my pillow and near my laptop. Changing the settings didn't work, as it usually does, so I resorted to turning the AC off and keeping the fan on the highest setting. Fortunately the nights have been a little cooler lately, so the heat was manageable. Woke up this morning, however, to find the AC dripping again. Since it's a Friday and the island is notorious for delayed responses and early shutdowns, I decided to forego school for household repair and chores.
Hopefully the AC repairmen will be over soon, as they are in the neighborhood per my landlord.
Add to that the water is out. Thankfully I did my dishes in the morning itself, now I just hope it comes back soon so I can make rice and all.
With any luck the power will hold, but things happen in 3s, so I'm up for anything at this point.
Also haven't been feeling well - being a woman sucks at times! :\ Enough said.
Dad's visiting family in SanDiego for the week, so I got to speak to everyone after a long time. Speaking to my 90+ years old grandparents was hard. Time's running short for them, especially my grandpa and I don't see a chance for me to visit them in the foreseeable future, so that's hard to deal with. At this point I'm just taking them as motivation to work that much harder so that I can make them proud.
That scene I was so eager to write out for NaNo; it's tougher than I thought. I figured, since I've written it before, it's just a matter of reworking bits and pieces. Unfortunately, the mother is proving to be an elusive character; I can't seem to get a grasp on her personality. Additionally I keep thinking of new little ways in which this scene will impact my heroine in the future. What had started out as a simple idea is growing in complexity faster than I can fully comprehend right now. Thank God for the comment/review feature on word - at least I can keep track of all the new insights I keep getting so I can fit them in later. My main problem remains the mother, however. I can't figure out how to write her - she refuses to emote for me! Any suggestions?
39 days and 4 hours to go - scary, since that means finals are only a month away!
Edit: The AC guys just came - turns out that while I had shut of my unit, the main machine's fan had still been running. This resulted in an accumulation of ice in my unit. They've fiddled around with it a bit, and I now have an AC that is dripping water at an even faster pace than before and spewing chunks of ice sporadically (though, per the repairman, it should be going into its own pipe). I now have to wait for the AC repairmen to finish their lunch before more progress can be made.
I was disgusted when they lifted the screen off the vents - the filters are beyond filthy. Dust has caked on so thickly, the filters are actually stuck to the AC vents and ice. Nasty!
