my halloween party

Let me tell you a story about the coolest catering job ever.

I catered an event last night for Sony’s new website fearnet.com. I have yet to check it out and I know nothing about it, but the party was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. As you walk up to the building, theirs is an entry with fountains and gardens and a walkway. On the ground all over are fake chalk outlines of bodies. In the fountains are floating dead bodies, and bones. Like tons of them. Around you everything is lit with red lights and you hear blood curdling screams everywhere. As you walk in you are greeted with a decomposing body sitting in a wheelchair, and piles of bones and skulls everywhere. Fog is pouring in from the next room. Hug hanging walls of chains are used as curtain dividers. There is an alcove outside of the main hall where there are tattoo artists giving real tattoos for free, surrounded by chain saws and blood dripping down the walls. In the main room you see buffet tables lining every wall filled with food, covered in body parts and whole bodies. Fingers are sticking out of every dish, and fake bugs are placed all of the tables. Where the sushi table is, there is a dead scuba diver sprawled over the whole table. Next to it a giant electric chair with a screaming girl tied to it. Every dish has a fitting name, like, mashed potatoes with maggots, and chicken fried fingers. If you look up, you see 5 of 6 bodies hanging from nooses from the ceiling. One being a bride, and other a cheerleader hanging from her feet with a whole through her entire abdomen. In the middle of the room on a pedestal is real live girl, make-uped to look like a dead person complete with white contact lenses… the freakiest things ever. She is in a shredded white night gown with blood and bugs all over her. She stands there moving with eerie jolts, and freezes. Another live girl is walking around in a prom dress covered in blood, serving “bloody Carries” to guests. In another corner by one of the buffet tables is a gurney with a dead/dying prom queen lying on it with her guts spilling out, she is a real person as well, moving, twitching and groaning all night. Down one of the halls is what appears to be a white wall matching all the other, but when you walk by, they find that the wall is actually stretchy fabric with people behinds it who stretch out their hands into the fabric and try to grab you and scream at you. There are alcoves everywhere with tables and couches, and the couches are covered with fabric painted with blood. Every hour, the music stops and there are blood curdling screams, and the lights dim, and a spotlight is shone on the top balcony and you are then witness to a heinous crime performed by the likes of Freddy Crouger, and a man with a chainsaw. All night there are four screens projecting clips and scenes from all the classic horror movies. The music is club-like with the so fitting “Thriller” played. The drinks are being served with eyeballs instead of olives, and the majority of them are red. And every server (including me) were dressed in all black, made up, by professional make up artists with white and black make up to look like a
with fake stakes, nails, and bite marks strategically placed on our necks and faces.
Needless to say, this was the most fun, excited, amazing, incredible, interesting and unforgettable catering job I have ever done. I don’t get to go to a Halloween party this year, but that party just made up for that.
