At the start of this year, I decided to keep track of the books I read. I actually set it up as a private journal entry on 01-01, and it was easy to go back to it each time I needed to add another title
( Read more... )
If I'm remembering correctly, I liked the story of Venus better, but the writing in Courtesan was better.
Eragon was fun -- I want to read the rest of the series.
Kushiel's Dart was one of those "I definately don't LOVE it, but I absolutely DON'T want to put it down." Another one that I want to continue with the series, although not for awhile.
I'm curious about how you felt about "Kushiel's Dart". I think we might have talked about it at some point, but I could be confusing you with someone else.
I don't think we ever talked about it. In fact, I don't think we've seen each other since the book was handed to me.
I have a friend who was completely enchanted by the series, all the way to the point that she wants the same tattoo on her back; it definately did not strike similar chords in myself. However, the political intrigue was absolutely compelling.
See, for me, it was easier to get into the courtesan storyline than the political stuff. It was intriguing, but I kept getting confused. I had to keep names on a list next to me so I could keep everyone straight.
I started reading the second one in the series. It's just as good, but I keep putting it aside to rest my brain. Too many brass hats. ;)
Oh, and I want the tattoo as well, but a much smaller version. I haven't decided where to put it yet.
Fritz got me hooked on them; I've read all of them so far, and LOVE them! Can't wait for the next one to come out. In the meantime, I'd like to read the Khaavren books.
I'm curios about TIME and NEWSWEEK. I subscribe to the latter and only occaissionally pick up the former, but it seems they overlap a good deal. (Not just in news reporting, but in arts and education articles, too. )
Enough to be worth the entire $4 I payed to have both of them for a year. :) Not to mention the tax write-off for donating them to the library. Some stuff overlaps, but definately not everything. I am noticing, though, that as time goes on I'm skipping more and more articles in both of them.
