1. You Ruin Me - The Veronicas
I love this song. I prefer female vocals to male, and there's something about the strength of emotion in their voices and the lyrics that really touches me here.
2. Black Sheep - Gin Wigmore
I first heard this song in a Miss Fisher fanvid, and it was such a perfect combination that I just fell in love with it. And now I can't hear this song without thinking of Phryne Fisher and that just makes a fantastic song even better.
3. Home - Marc Broussard
This is a summer song for me, where I love nothing better than to just roll down the windows in the car and belt this out at full volume. It's such an infectious song - no matter what mood I'm in, this song alone can make it better.
4. Wild Horses - Charlotte Martin
I am a sucker for girls with fragile yet strong voices, and Charlotte Martin's is up there. Add that to a Rolling Stones cover, and I'm sold. The part where she stops playing the piano and just sings unaccompanied slays me every time, her voice is so beautiful and clear and song.
5. The House Rules - Christian Kane
I actually prefer the version Christian Kane did with his band Kane to this solo version, but either way it's a great song. Find me a better lyric than 'rule no. seven says don't touch the women but they can grab whatever they want to!' Hee. Words for life, brother.
6. Within You - David Bowie
Labyrinth. 'Nuff said, really. "Fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave." Yes, Mr Bowie, where do I sign up?
