I have one episode left of Black Sails, and I've been putting off watching it for the last week. Because when I watch it, then the season is finished and I have to wait who knows how long until the next season. But as long as I still have something left to watch, it's not over

We just started watching this. Not sure yet. Found first ep fun, but second ep dragged, and as you say, John Silver is a pain in the arse. I also don't care much about their thinly plotted search for the gold boat. We shall see!

It does get better. Once the story mostly moves past John Silver and his map and into the pirate politics it really improves.

After reading your comments as you've gone along, I'm going to have to check this out. I'd been debating about it, but I just have so many shows to keep up with that I hadn't really made the effort. Now I have so many things to look for as I go (like that full frontal you mentioned)!

I think they only committed to a small number of episodes for their first season because period pieces are so expensive. You don't want to have to put aside all that money on a show that might not work. Hopefully, it was so well received that the next season will have them committing to more episodes.

Yay, you should! The first eps are a bit so-so, but once it gets into pirate politics and all sorts it really hits its stride. And it's so morally ambiguous and murky, I love it.

Yay, you watched it! Isn't it fantastic? It really makes the pirates, you know, ruthless and dirty and gritty, the way they're supposed to be! No fluffy Pirates of the Caribbean nonsense!

I still have the final episode to watch - I've been putting it off for over a month now, because once I've watched that then there's no more and I'm too impatient to wait ages for S2!
