"I bought a car. Turned out it was an alien robot. Who knew?"

Saw Transformers with eliara today, which turned out to be just as badass and made of shiny CGI-flavored awesome as you would have been led to expect from the trailers and from a movie which is based upon a premise that is "cool cars turned into giant robots beating each other senseless and leaving much public property destruction in their wake amid many, many things exploding". Woot.

I have to say, I think being familiar with the Transformer 'verse, while not a necessity, does probably add that extra enjoyable layer to watching this movie. Or at least, that's what I'm concluding based upon the fact that the line "My name is Optimus Prime" automatically caused me to pump a fist in the air with a "WHOO!!" followed by some hyper giggling (similar reactions were garnered from me for "I am...MEGATRON" and "You fail me again, Starscream", and just the whole Optimus vs Megs encounter at the very end, because HO YES).

I was just overall thrilled with the sights'n'sounds aspects of this movie. The soundtrack was made of badass, and, randomly, I loved the effects they used for the sounds the Transformers made when they were moving, fighting, transforming, et all. It was just...sweet.
And as for the way the robots looked, well, it hardly bears saying. I think Megatron's character design in particular I was impressed with, mainly just for how frickin' terrifying they made him look. The part at the very end where he's trying to grab Sam, I was about ready to wet myself, because it was freaking scary. And, you know, AWESOME at the same time.

(Randomly, I'm kind of tickled by the fact that, of course, the Autobots are a random lot of cool cars and trucks, while the Decepticons are a bunch of Army-grade assault vehicles. Heh. And on a similiar note, the fact that the Decepticons have names like Bonecrusher and Blackout, whilst the Autobots are Bumblebee, Jazz...)

And of course, mad props for Bumblebee, the coolest car ever. I mean, come on; when your car is helping you try to get laid? That is one pretty frickin' sweet car you got right there.

Though I think the award for Robot That Freaked Me Out The Most, in the end, actually goes to...Frenzy. Becayse that little dude was fuh-ree-kay.

Oh, and [WARNING: SPOILER], we didn't stay for the full credits, so I'm just curious: was there anything we missed after the shot of Starscream (of course, of COURSE) flying off into space? We didn't think there was anything else and we didn't feel like staying...tho my money was on some kind of closing shot of Megs deep under the ocean and his eyes lighting up. I mean, come on. Who wouldn't see that coming?

Also, I finally opened my BPAL package on Saturday when I got home and have been doing a scent a day.
So far I've done Cheshire Cat, which I love, and Undertow, which I also like, although I think the juniper kind of fades off of me and goes pure mint instead after awhile. It's been a hot couple of days and I've been getting really sticky though, so it's kind of hard to tell. Today's scent is Katharina, which is very nice as well, but at this point it seems to have lost the mix of musk and apricot as distinctive scents and turned into a new scent that's a weaker, sweet scent that's the two blended indiscriminantly together. Although, again, that may just be the weather, and also I think I lose the abiility to smell my own perfume pretty fast, typically, so who knows.

Though, interestingly, I was sent eight Imps instead of six: the ones I ordered plus a bonus Imp of Voodoo and Lorelai. Was there some kind of fine print special offer that I just missed out on reading when I placed my order, or did they have a little factory mix-up on me? Either way, I'm hardly complaining...although, from just my beginning impressions, I'm willing to concede that you get your money's worth out of these tiny bottles from the oil's strength. I opened Cheshire Cat to sniff at it at about six on Saturday and my room smelled like grapefruit for the rest of the night.

Haven't even so much as cracked open any of the other Imps yet, so I'll get back to you on those as we go.

geeking, movie, bpal
