Well, at least I can (partially) blame it on the fact that cerebel has posted her half of "Devils And Black Sheep", our joint Baltar/Gaeta pirates AU fic.
Yes. Pirates. The Battlestar Galactica characters (well, some of them anyway) as pirates.
Also, it's very well-written and funny and there's sea-faring action and they have hot sex a lot (it's NC-17) and...come on. You know you wanna.
