"Oh, the half gallon, quart pot, pint pot, half a pint, gill pot, half a gill, quarter gill..."

"Here's good luck to the barrel, good luck to the barley mow
Jolly good luck to the barrel, good luck to the barley mow..."

Okay, somebody please explain this to me:

Why do I have the lyrics to "The Barley Mow" stuck in my head?
Particularly when the only part of the song I can ever actually remember is "good luck to the barley mow"??

It makes no sense.

(What have I been up to lately, you ask? Nothing, really. It's finals week, so I've been pretty much vegging. And studying. And writing some fic. And recording music with Renn Guild today. And I've got a lot of stuff to do, with two exams still coming up and emails that need to be sent out and computer things that I need to take care of. But of course I'd rather not do any of it, so I just keep going back to the vegging with a side of writing.)

Also, in a similar vein, the fandom center of my brain has apparantly decided that Aerelon = Irish, thanks to that accent/dialect we heard in "Dirty Hands" (I don't think I realized just how strong a mental connection I was making there until I had Baltar using the "may the road rise up to meet you" toast in "Mercury Rising".)

Which has led directly to me concluding that the new Best Thing Ever would be if someone, somehow, got Gaius Baltar to bust out with an old-fashioned drinking song at some point. Fic, on the show, whatever; either's good for me.

Go on and tell me that wouldn't be awesome. Just try.
