Squee has become part of my communication. I read an Afrikaans book that was very enjoyable - much more than expected, even - and it feels downright weird not to be able to go "Best book about a prostitute in a clay oven ever, everybody read it!!!" Sharing the love feels like an essential part of the appreciation. If I don't rec it I didn't like it enough but ... but I do...!
Anyway, this seems like a good point to rec a reccer.
we_are_reason is a rec journal that has recently started in on Sherlock fic, mostly John/Sherlock with Mycroft and Lestrade for variety. The fic ranges from short and sweet to long and brutal, and generally excellent. And there's a high school AU! (This is what tipped me over into reccing. Good high school AUs are delicious crack.)
There were also recs from posts at this year's round of
halfamoon -
Mrs Hudson as a gang leader is pretty sweet, and
Molly/Old Spice Guy is clearly the way forward. (warning: the last link also has a gif of the utmost magnificence in the comments, but it's huge, so it might be a bother on a slow connection.)
It's a blessing that these happened to drop into my lap because I am 100% too lazy to go digging through that massive fandom. Besides, the fics I really really want probably don't exist. These fics are:
1) John is Moriarty! For a few seconds there Sherlock totally thought that was the case.
2) The lives and times of Moriarty's snipers. It looks like a dozen of them hang out in the same square metre, or how do they train so many guns on one person? How does no one notice all these people entering a building and taking position in dark corners? Is it in fact a job requirement to snipe while lying in a puppy pile of efficiency and guns?
