DISCLAIMER: I don't own Demi Lovato or Selena Gomez
She hadn't moved from her spot against the door. She couldn't. The sleeping form of the most beautiful girl clung to her, snuggling closer and closer as the hours wore on. She slept for only a few hours but that was it. Looking down at the girl who literally trapped her against the door, Demi smiled softly. Her body ached all over after staying in the same position all night. Did she care?
Hell no.
She couldn't help but let out a whimper as she felt Selena snuggle even cloesr against her, a feat she didn't think was possible at that point. Her eyes fluttered closed involuntarily as she felt Selena's soft breath ghost across the skin of her neck, instantly causing goosebumps to appear. I'm in Heaven. That has to be it. Having her this close to me... I don't even need any more than this. I'll be happy to stay like this forever. Just feeling her this close to me, feeling her hands hold on to me, feeling her lips brush against my neck... OH MY GOD! HER LIPS JUST BRUSHED AGAINST MY NECK!
Jolted out of her thoughts, Demi held her breath and willed herself not to shiver. She gazed down with a dazed expression as she listened to mumbled words escaped lovely lips. Feeling Selena bring her face into her neck, Demi sighs in happiness and pleasure as she closes her eyes at the sensation.
"Demi? You awake?"
"No, I'm not," answered Demi, her smile evident in her voice. Her smile grew as she heard soft giggling above her.
"Oh, so you're a sleep talker?"
"Mhmm, one of the many relatives of sleep walking?"
"Really?"
"Yes. I'm sleeping right now. So I'm not really awake while I'm talking to you. I've tried to hide it but I guess you found out."
"Hmm, I guess so."
The two giggled together, one shaking a little extra because of the body beneath her. Demi grinned as she heard Selena gasp and quickly mutter apologies as she tried to get off of Demi.
"Oh my God, Demi! You must be in so much pain right now. I've been crushing you all night!"
"Stop. I'm fine. You can stay on my lap if you want...I don't mind."
Idiot! Why did you say that? Please don't freak, please don't freak, please don't freak...
"Demi?"
Fuck! I can't lose her again. Please don't freak!
"Demi, I need to tell you why. You didn't let me tell you last night. And um.." Selena blushed and nervously darted her eyes, "sorry about the drunk rambling, i just really wanted to-"
"Don't say sorry. You don't have anything to be sorry for. It-it was adorable." Shut up! What the hell are you doing?!! Stop talking, you idiot!!!
She stared up at Selena. There was no smile, no frown, no grimace, or confusion. Instead, there was pure desperation.
"Demi." Selena whispered. "Remember...remember when I burned my hand? Remember when you took care of me. D-do you, remember that?"
"Of course, Selena! You scared the shit out of me. God, I was so scared that it was more serious-"
"Demi you need to let me finish what I'm gonna say now and not say anything."
"Selena wha-"
"Please" came a broken whisper. Swallowing harshly, Demi nodded.
Staring desperately into her soulful brown eyes, Selena cupped her left hand against Demi's cheek.
"Even if you hate me after this," Selena choked out, "I need to tell you why. I pushed it away. I-I didn't know how to say it. I, I didn't even think I should even think it." She started to move her hand away from Demi's cheek, watching her fingertips trace soft pale skin. "But i couldn't ignore it anymore after that day," she whispered.
Selena traced her fingertips down her neck, leaving a trail of goosebumps and a close to whimpering Demi behind. This is a dream. This has to be a dream.
"You freaked out. You didn't ask me if I was okay or anything, you didn't say a word while you took care of me. You were just freaking out. And God, your eyes..." Her stare leaving her fingertips for a moment, Selena looked into now dark orbs. "I could see the worry in them. How scared you were over a little burn. But God, I never realized how dark they could get. Just like now."
"I couldn't breath when I saw them. I couldn't even try. I felt like I was falling endlessly."
This is happening. This isn't a dream. It can't be a dream.
Her fingertips went around the back of her neck. Not realizing the effect she was causing her, Selena's fingers lightly caressed the nape of Demi's neck as she continued. "So I invited Nick over. I-I knew what I was doing was wrong, that I was breaking the promises I made, but I was scared. God, Demi I was so scared." Her voice cracking, Selena brought her face once again to Demi's neck, letting the tears overcome her. "I thought maybe if I invited Nick, then I would see it was just a fluke or something. Just me being an idiot. But God, it hurt so much to see nothing in your eyes!"
"I knew I was wrong. I knew it wasn't a fluke then. I couldn't take it when there was nothing in your eyes and you were being NICE to him. I killed me that you didn't glance at me every two seconds during movies and then turn to the movie thinking I wouldn't see it. It killed me that I didn't have you to hold onto when I was scared. It killed me."
She wanted to say something, anything to make her smile. She couldn't take the despair in her voice. No, she needs to say this. You have to let her.
"And then that stupid fight," Selena whispered angrily. "That stupid fight happened. You didn't do anything wrong while I did everything wrong. But I was s-so scared Demi. I couldn't deal with it. I couldn't deal so I pushed you away. And damn it," she sobbed, "it'll probably be the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. And the one I'll regret forever."
She didn't say anything. She had agreed. She wouldn't say anything until Selena was done. Instead, she pulled Selena closer to her, her arms wrapped tightly around her small, tiny body.
"Five days. Five days I haven't seen you. I haven't spoken to you. You completely shut me out. And it was because I was scared. I can't let it do that again Demi. I can't be afraid anymore."
Please say it.
"I've been afraid of it for eight years."
Please, let her say what I think she's saying.
"Demetria Lovato"
Look at her. Look at her right now.
"I've been in love with you for eight years. I'm sorry, but I can't hide it anymore! I just ca-mmph!"
Grabbing Selena's face roughly, Demi slammed her lips against Selena's, finally tasting the heaven she's been dreaming about for eight years. Perfect.
