Barnaby tore his helmet off as he dropped to his knees, his face streaked with tears. “Why?” he found himself whimpering.
“You're my partner, plain and simple,” Kotetsu reached weakly for his arm, but doubled over in pain, as he coughed, his lungs searing with pain. Blood trickled down his chin and he gave Barnaby a weak grin, trying to be corny, but not really reaching it, “I promised I'd always have your back. That's what partners are for, right Bunny?”
Barnaby choked back a sob, pulling Kotetsu's wounded body against him, “Yeah, that's what they do... that's what they do Tiger.”
