“I brought you some lunch,” Evelyn spoke as she dropped a wicker basket onto his desk without any pause in her quick actions, which caused Cullen to jump in surprise, who had been in serious thought before she had entered, much to his chagrin, at not having noticed she had entered his chambers at all.

“It's not much, just a few things to tide you over,” she continued speaking as he tried to pull his mind back into focus. She was chattering hurriedly, his cheeks flushed from her motions, maybe her embarrassment, which only made Cullen slowly start to grin as his own attentions focused on her.

“The mood you're in is very...” Cullen started abruptly, cutting her trail of thoughts off completely.

She gave a snort, “Annoying? You were going to say annoying, right?” Evelyn opened the basket, to start pulling out the contents, her eyes narrowed as she turned her attention to the basket.

The Commander shook his head and leaned forward, catching her chin in his hand, gently urging her to look at him. When their eyes met, he quickly gave her a tender kiss, his lips lingering near hers. She gave a small satisfied sigh and he pulled back, a smile spreading across his face.

“I was going to say, amusing,” He crossed his arms, before nodding to the basket on the table, “You startled me, my Lady, that is all I was trying to say.”

She flushed, her own lips turning upwards into a smile, “Really?”

“Truly,” he tapped the basket, “Now, this lunch, tell me about it.”

“You were missed in the Great Hall this afternoon,” Evelyn cleared her throat, “I thought that you would be getting hungry.”

“You were right in assuming,” Cullen said.

Evelyn bloomed under his attention as she started eagerly chattering away again. Cullen watched her, enjoying her voice as he listened to her. It was a rare sight to see the Inquisitor so animated, which was more than welcome in his eyes.
