" ..I hear a noise inside my brain / It is controlling me.. "

Oh well. Got a sore throat redux but everything else seems to be on the mend, virus wise. Just getting cramps and bloating again, as it's blood moon time. Hopefully this time my period won't last five weeks like the last one - I have an appointment with the gynaecologist on Tuesday to rant about it.

It's been a fairly packed weekend. Dragged TigerEyes' dad out for breakfast and lunch at the Mondo's markets and Little Chutney's, running into agoodliedown as well. Then a consultation with EW about a couple of big ticket items for next Easter. A short rest, then off to a work do at Burswood. Meh food, tragic music, and terribly Daneish folks; just a standard workplace really. Got complimented on my brocade jacket, which stood out from the rest of the plethora of empire-line/halterneck/strapless-satin-clone-party-dresses that surrounded. Honestly, it's a work do. What's the fuss with dressing up? It's not like a function that you go to because it's going to be a fun crowd. Just careful not to wear any of my really dress-up clothes, so as not to get funny looks in the corridor come Monday. I left early, after a boring entree.

Then it was off to mandragora2003's birthday gathering. Lovely house, with lovely things and a totally enviable green thumb. Handed over her pressie of a three-carat amethyst and a 3/4-carat chrome tourmaline, and got to meet the cats - Kitten, Ash and DeathFerret - most of which resemble my Dervish in colouration and fur amplitude.

Sin was unusually fun this weekend. It was a surprise session, and not many regulars were there. But what with Brad and Claudine racking up the old school stuff, as well as playing well with the lighting, it got a really good hard retro vibe. I haven't heard RevCo and Bauhaus played for ages, let alone in the same set. I had a lot of fun. Unfortunately however I managed to partially friction-burn myself by dancing hard with a too-enthusiastically taped up shoulder, and the adhesive liked me too well. It's healing nicely now with the aid of some aloe vera gel.

This morning was odd. We stumbled into Northbridge blindly seeking yum cha, and then decided to investigate the action happening in the square. This turned out to be a full food and culture festival thrown by the Thai Australian Association, leading to my kicking myself repeatedly for having already eaten. I did buy some takeaway som tam, and a couple of Thai satay sticks. I also found out where to locally buy sai eua (Chaeng Mai style Northern Thai fermented pork sausage - unfortunately Google drew a blank there) - under the counter at the Thai video shop in Brisbane street, across from the Lucky shop, apparently. Despite asking for only a little chilli and no raw crab(that's Lao style I think), my som tam is so hot I've only had a little bit. Housemate will be grateful that the container is in the fridge in a ziplock bag, so that the whole fridge doesn't smell of fish sauce.

Then wandered over to Sexpo to have a look, as I'd never been. Lots of stuff about, and lots of showbags floating about. Eyed off the shiny stuff at Sax, especially the pretty metal collars. Tried on a longline Vollers at the corset booth, and got zapped(ow) out of curiosity at the electro display. There was a lot of stuff there, the vast majority of it rather vanilla. I overheard an amusingly baffled conversation("Harry, what are those things? They look like dental instruments..") near the display of urethral sounds, however. It being the last day of the show, everyone was marking things down for cheap. There was a lot of tat and crap, with the occasional worthwhile item. TigerEyes bought me two pairs of coloured contact lenses, and I got a really good deal on a cheap showbag and some warming acetate-gel heat pads. In fact, the booth boss's offsider was giggling as I bargained. I managed to get him to throw an extra gel pad and pad pouch belt into the already discounted package for only $5 extra.
So yes, I did spend almost $300 this weekend, but most of it was for food shopping and the heat pads for my joints. So it wasn't too outrageous. Fun though. ^_~

ETA - I just won an auction for one of these. Looks like it's going to be a more expensive month after all.:P
