Say a person (me) had really wanted to do the Three Day, and now it is scheduled at a perfect time of year in my city for the first time ever.

Would it be WRONG to walk to raise money for Komen? Your honest opinion please.

What if I walked in a Planned Parenthood shirt??? (I don't know if they require you to walk in a certain shirt or not)

My honest opinion, albeit after reading and reviewing only a small amount of the press that has come out of this controversy, is that Komen is a failed organization that does not serve the cause it proclaims that it does.

For example, only 19% of Komen’s revenues go toward research... and of the $75 million for research, only $62M was spent on actual research awards and grants. The remaining $12.7M was spent on professional fees ($6.3M); Salaries and Benefits ($2.8M); and other Operating expenses ($3.6M). Although the research program was allocated 19% of total revenue, only 16% of total revenue was used to fund actual research.Komen has been revealed to me as a politicized group that prioritizes its corporate sponsors and own public profile over the needs of women, especially poor women ( ... )

thanks very much -- I appreciate your help and knowledge with this issue. I was catching the edge of the controversy and not the meat of it. Thanks!

No problem!! I feel pretty strongly about it, but I also understand if you decide it's something you really want to participate in. Thanks for contributing no matter what you decide. <333
