“What should I do, Rex?”
Rex landed on the sofa beside Connor. He chirped hopefully, and Connor offered him a wotsit.
“How am I supposed to tell Abby how I feel? Saying it once was bad enough.”
“Chirp.”
Connor absently handed him another wotsit.
“What if she says, ‘that’s nice, but I just want to be friends’? After that it’ll all get weird.”
“Chirp.”
“What would you do?”
Rex nudged his hand away and started enthusiastically licking the inside of the packet.
Connor sighed.
“Thanks mate. But I don’t think the way to Abby’s heart involves a bag of cheesy wotsits.”
