The atrium was buzzing. Printouts, diagrams and post-its covered every surface, and half-assembled electronics lay scattered across the floor like discarded lego.
Connor bounced around in the midst of his creative chaos, i-pod blaring, wallowing in geeky enthusiasm. His progress was signalled by frowns, flailing arms, grins, even occasional singing.
Watching from the balcony above, Nick smiled. Trusting Connor with the creation of the anomaly detector had been a good choice.
He had told Connor, “some people never change”. But of all his team, Connor had changed the most from what Nick remembered. Maybe this new world wasn’t all bad after all.
