First Impressions...OR...Optessimism

I was just saying hi to a coworker, a girl, a very beautiful girl...who has an annoying personality.

It got me thinking about something.

When you first meet someone; someone who piques your interest in some extremely positive manner; someone who you feel has the potential to be someone special in your life. At that moment, when all you know about them is that they are absolutely fascinating (physically, emotionally, etc) - at that moment, they have more potential than they ever will in the entire time that you will know them.

Because at that moment, before you get to know this person better, they are just full of wonderful possibilities. They can be anything you want them to be - and they are!
In your imagining, hopeful, anticipating mind, they are anything and everything that you would like them to be. Once you get to know them, they will change. And the more you get to know them, the more they will change.

And no matter how great the person turns out to be, they will never be... no one will ever be..as amazing as they were at that first instant when they first caught  your eye and grabbed your imagination.

...

So, would you say that's an optimist talking or a pessimist talking? If you think the answer is simple, read it again.
And when you're done, read this: This week's Quote Of the Week...

Remember the compliments you receive,
forget the insults.
If you succeed in doing this,
tell me how.

~ Mary Schmich

Dude, awesome!: That's right, this bit isn't dead just yet. Today, I came to work early. Really early - 8:30! Yes, that's really early for me! I think before this, my previous record was 9:07. Also, I made my most kick-assest cup of coffee ever today. I think it might be the recently replaced coffee machine. Me looketh forward'th, to yon coffee, on the morrow..eth.
