QOW...OR...TAP

Thoughts And Ponderings...It recently occurred to me that quite often I get so busy and distracted with things I have to do, need to do and want to do, that I get very little time to just sit and drift away in reflective thought, very little time for thoughts and ponderings. But...when I do find myself with more free time than was anticipated, and have more time for said ponderings, I end up thinking about many of the things that I would rather not think about - things I'm avoiding, things unresolved in some way or the other - and so I end up doing something to make myself busy again, something to distract myself in order to avoid said thoughts and ponderings.

And somehow, I'm OK with this.

Hm..on a related topic, my Quote Of the Week for this and last week (oh the busyness of business) was/is...

Keep

your old love letters,

throw away

your old bank statements.

~ Mary Schmich

The reason it's related was that the quote got me pondering about the idea of love letters. Do people even write "love letters" anymore? By that I don't even mean physical letters vs. emails, I mean love letters period. I don't think people write them anymore. Nowadays, people just ask each other out, then they go out, then they fall in love or break up, or both, or they get married or they break up.. or both.
My point is that in the modern adult romantic relationship, I don't know if there are any occasions left for love letters - not anymore.

People who want to express their love/like/lust for one another nowadays do it in many ways (during face-to-face conversations, during phone conversations, birthday, anniversary & valentine cards, post cards, "i miss you" emails, the occasional cute luvy-duvy note or text messages, etc.).

None of those really count as "love letters". Unless someone changed the definition of a love letter, which for me is a multi-paragraped letter addressed to a particular person, throughout which someone is expressing their like/love/lust for that person. Sure emails and letters exist where at some point in the body of the text (usually the very end) there is an "i love you" thrown in here or there. But letters devoted to the topic?

If they exist, they're like the Tasmanian Devil...

...Endangered.

Or even like the Radiated Tortoise...

...Critically Endangered.
