Stress

Normally I don't deal with stress directly. I work out regularly and try to get enough sleep and that will usually take care of it, I found; the exercise to keep your chemicals balanced and sleep to let your subconsciousness deal with the issues. But lately my life is a bit more chaotic than I'd like and I've been out with con cold since last Tuesday, so this was probably inevitable...

Taking a nap this afternoon I did that thing where you think you've awakened and are getting out of bed but you're still asleep and are only dreaming that you're awake. And worse, I was stuck in a loop and keep dreaming it over and over again, until eventually it dawned on my semi-conscious mind that I was still asleep. So because my subconsciousness is just like this, suddenly this state is an obstacle that has to be fought and the fact that I can't wake up is an opponent that I have to beat to death. Unfortunately, my brain had not yet received the signal to cancel the sleep paralysis so all my punches are sluggish or suppressed which is only a signal to fight HARDER, right, so...

FINALLY, the brain wakes up and releases my body. And at the same exact instant, I throw an all-out right jab, hyper-extend my arm, hurt my shoulder... and fall out of bed.

Kids! Stress is bad! This has been a public service announcement!
