scene xv

[in spite of what his vote to stay in Mayfield might imply, Charles's enjoyment of the city changes as rapidly as his mood and he tends to dislike it more often than not. right now, hatred would be a more suitable word.

first it had been the boy who claimed to know him from a time he couldn't place; an odd, unusually fearless child with a horrid attention span. his droning wasn't terribly important even if it left Charles with unanswered questions, but Saya? that is another matter entirely. even if she isn't his, she still carries the same blood; blood that will surely make up for a few of the wrongs his Saya has caused, if only he could spill it.  in this way he's mentally claimed the Saya here as well, and seeing her droned is almost enough to send him into a rage. it’s only with restraint refined over a century that he is able to keep from acting rashly.

- well, restraint is one reason. Diva is another.  though one opportunity is temporarily unavailable (and it's temporary, he’s certain, because he hasn’t allowed Saya to leave yet), this one is still wide open. it's the chance to do what he's been longing for in secret since that day in Vietnam: to be a proper chevalier to his queen.

it's with this in mind that he decides to make a phone call, though it takes him a few hours to calm down enough to do so and his tone is still very clipped even after.]

PHONE;
I'd like to speak to a seamstress or tailor, preferably one of excellent skill and a decent hand with elegant fabrics and design.

ACTION;
[after the call, Charles can be found:
A) sitting under a tree near school grounds, tuning a violin. he borrowed it from the school, but it's not stealing unless he doesn't plan on returning it, right? every so often a snippet of a song can be heard, but for the most part he’s playing simple scales and adjusting things to his liking.

B) in the grocery store, filling a cart with way too many cans of frosting and bags of candy, and not enough ingredients for actual substantial food.

C) housemates will find a freshly baked cake on the edge of the kitchen counter. looks tempting, doesn't it? too bad! it isn't up for snack bandits; beneath the plate is a neatly penned note that reads 'greedy fingers shall be removed'. whether that's literal or figurative is debatable. once it's finished cooling, he'll make his way to the room Diva is staying in and knock.]
