Mummy Would Be Proud Of Me ...

Feb 20, 2023 11:41

It's Monday morning, and I have 2 loads of washing on the line.  That was always her first task of the week ... but to make her completely proud I have to get the ironing done this afternoon and all packed away/put to air.  before we had the automatic washing machine she washed Mondays and ironed Tuesdays .. so maybe I get the extra day!  However, as it turns out, I am going out for a lot of tomorrow.

Having had quite a few ongoing days of work I have only a couple of shifts this week, and I am actually going to enjoy a couple of days "out".  I was beginning to feel guilty that I wasn't doing the trip to see my Aunt, but as the home has COVID at present they are not wanting visitors if it can be helped.  So, housework, spring-cleaning ... and a couple of days out.  It is Christine's birthday on Wednesday so tomorrow I am taking her to a National Trust property ... we are hoping that we can see some Spring flowers (before it turns cold again later in the week)

Work was actually OK over the weekend (a long day on the Saturday), but as both days were quiet I actually spent some time doing some basic icon working, as well as reading on AO3 ... that's the great advantage of working on the main reception ... I need a lot of info, so I have 2 computer screens, and it means I can open a couple of extra tabs, OK.  Actually it was so quiet yesterday that I was actually able to watch the LegoMasterss Australia, as I would have done if I had been home.  So getting paid to do whta is a "normal" rest day is brilliant!

Right, I will catch up with you all a bit later, but before that -

20 - Love Your Pet Day: Do you have pets? Tell us about them - cats, dogs, other species? How many?
Mum & Dad had a spaniel when I was born, called Scrappy, who died when I was 6.  Sadly I don't remeber her.
My first love was a spaniel Perry, who was a month short of his 5th birthday when he died.  I was in my 20's and he broke my heart.
Then Mum & Dad had Misty, another spaniel, who was almost 16 when he died.
And, then there was Jiffy!
And, of course Mum bought me Jaykub ... he was 9 when he came to me, but sadly only lived another 18months ... and another broken heart,  Welsh cobs should live to be in their mid 30's.  I then had DJ, my namesake, on loan.  I suppose he was about 11 when I gave up riding, and he then went to work for Riding for the Disabled in Windsor ... so it was nice to know that he was moving to a special home.

21 - International Mother Language Day: What is your native language? How many languages do you speak fluently or near-fluently? How many languages besides your native language have you studied?
I speak English ... and even have a problem with the technicalities of that language (just read my blog/fics, and you will know).
I do however try to learn please/thanks in the language of the country I am visiting ... it's just polite.

And, as I said I did some icons, and here they are as I posted them on DW -

Challenge 165 - your_favourites. This challenge was "favourite gengre" and my favourite genre is the classic musicals of the 1940's - 1960's ... here are 4 examples:

1- It Started with Eve
2- Silk Stockings
3- Summer Stock
4- Tea for Two

Challenge 56 of perioddrama_ic. had a challenge of "Fantasy" .  Well, I'm hoping Robin Hood counts as Fantasy! (I am English, so recon he must be a real person!)

As well as a few that I made for Itsabattlefield Quick Battles.  This is where you get a prompt, and just post 1 icon.  It's not a competition against others, really just a challenge for yourself.  Then they are all posted so you can see what others make of the challenge ...
