Merry Christmas!

Alani made a construction paper reindeer which she calls Hallov - the other reindeer. You know, "Hallov the other reindeer, used to laugh and call him names..."

Message left on answering machine around 9am this morning..."Auntie Debbie... Merry Christmas! What time are you going to get here??? We're waiting... " At that time I was already up and about - G had run out of pancake mix and the store had closed last night by the time she realized it. Me and about 40 other people were waiting at the door when the store opened this morning.

Friday, herefox and I went out for a comfort food dinner at Kapps. Pizza! He had gotten me the first season of Babylon 5. If I could have found it, that's what I was going to get HIM, but they didn't have it. The funny bit was that we both had thought that if we gotten it for the other, that we could then watch it too...

Yesterday, K, Kyle & I went to the chapel. Then back home to finish wrapping gifts. Oy. Christmas Eve dinner at K's - G made prime rib and shrimp scampi, rice pilaf, rosemary roasted potatoes and mashed potatoes, spinach and strawberry salad and stir fried asparagus with mushrooms. My sister can cook =) I had picked up Lee from work and then realized that I had forgotten the all important finger jello. Oops. Good thing I live 5 minutes away. Lovely dinner, good company! (K, G, Kyle, Alani, Ron (Steve's dad), Jodie, Brian & Noah (Kyle's friend & parents), lilacfairy and me).

Jodie had made Star of David cookies from pretzels dipped in chocolate. Alani's face was smeared with chocolate as she carefully licked off all the chocolate.

I had all the presents wrapped and under the tree by midnight. Go me! I slept in until 8:30am.

Kids were bouncing around this morning!!! Steve arrived around 9:40 and the sound of wrapping paper being shredded began. K had made them cards which on the front read "Guess Where You're Going Tomorrow???" Inside it read "DISNEYLAND!!!" Alani's comment was "For Real???" Disbelief at first, but as the morning progressed, much excitement.

Alani has already packed her backpack with all her new clothes and has stuffed the side pockets with underwear, socks and her toothbrush.

I left K muttering under her breath as she tried to get the x-wing fighter to "transform" into the robot. The directions are not very clear and the print is very small...

christmas, friends, family
