Lichtenstein is on a mission today. Not to say he isn't always on a mission... But this time his task involves the Nexus. One of the many perks of this place is that rather than turning to your rivals for help you can search for what you need here. But he hasn't got all year (well, he has but he'd rather do something with his time) so he might as ( Read more... )

Eliza is not wearing her lab coat, but she speaks either way. "I work in a lab. It isn't exactly equipped for Hematology though."

Lichtenstein crooks an eyebrow. Both at her and her answer. Haematology equipment would really be preferable. But he might as well get what he can take. If it's useful in any way. "What is it equipped for?"

"Biological Engineering. That's my department. What exactly do you need?"

Engineering. It doesn't sound like it has much to do with biology. But she has the equipment and he has less knowledge of the old forms of science than he'd like. "I need to compare and contrast samples. In as many ways as possible. I'm looking to do an in depth study. I'd specifically like to look at blood... but anything helps."

He hates to admit this but he knows details are needed. "I'm not familiar with technology used for taking a close look at biological structures."

Jack isn't paying much attention to the normal Nexus traveler's first question. But he turns his head at the second one. "I don't exactly have a need for a medical lab but I definitely seize opportunities immediately."

Typical of so many young people. He doesn't snort. But he does crook an eyebrow. "No consideration at all? Doesn't it cross your mind that doing that might get you in trouble? Or haven't you heard of the phrase 'just too good to be true'?"

"I've heard the expression, it can sometimes be used to stop people getting what they want. But opportunities won't hang around forever and I tend to make sure it's an opportunity not a trap I'm more cautious than you'd think."

"Besides I tend to attract trouble anyway, I can stand the heat."

"It's also used to give people fair warning," the professor points out dryly. Ignorance is everywhere nowadays. "Opportunities can be traps as well. And you might want to watch that confidence. One of these days you might overestimate yourself."

Irma takes a swallow from a coffee cup, then says "I consider them carefully. I... probably consider them for too long and end up missing them, actually."

Lichtenstein crooks an eyebrow. "And are you more regretful or unaffected by this?"

"I'm usually unaffected, but sometimes I wonder if I should try to be more open to things." A little shrug from the teenager.

"It certainly offers a more interesting edge to life. Don't you ever try to be? To see what it's like."

The small, dark haired woman could possibly be uncomfortable for a lich to be around, depending on how sensitive he is to things that are anti-dark. Though, since she's just a fountain of living energy and not an outright destroyer of that kind of thing, even if he is sensitive he'll probably be okay.

"For me," she says as she grips the collar of a lioness sized orange tabby cat. "It depends on the opportunity."

It doesn't bother him at all. Quite the contrary. If she truly radiates excess life energy then his body will happily absorb it. Energy can always be put to good use later on.

"So you're very even handed about which reaction you give? Do you prefer one to the other?"

random_xtras March 24 2010, 21:01:14 UTC
In that case she'll probably radiate just a little on purpose once she notices the absorption/potential for absorption, since feeding people is her favorite hobby.

"Not really. Like I say, it totally depends on the opportunity. Though... if someone wishes for chocolate? That one I always jump on."

She'll get a wary look for that. The energy doesn't seem too contaminated though. He won't decline it. But he'll be suspicious.

"What kind of opportunities do you get?"

"A little of both, as a general rule. Sometimes getting what you need requires a little planning or negotiation."

lych_o_learning March 25 2010, 18:10:37 UTC
A sensible answer to be sure. "And this planning and negotiation never prevents you from taking the opportunity in time?"

sinner01 March 25 2010, 23:57:31 UTC
"Not if you do it correctly. There's a certain kind of balance to it--learning to know when it might be better to rush in, or when extra planning and care is required."

lych_o_learning March 26 2010, 00:32:12 UTC
"And when you've learned that balance you're never wrong?" Do excuse Lichtenstein's mildly amused tone.
