"First, I'd say look for things that are similar to the old place. That way it won't seem so alien," suggests the fox demon who, unlike the cub there, IS making use of one of the comfortable couches.

Kai nods, "That's a good idea. There'll be more of my kind there, which'll be nice. 'M used to it being all kids and old folks but I hear the place I'm going to'll be a little different. More people in between. Maybe it'll be a good kind of different."

He can't help but peer curiously at Youko. He's older than the last kitsune he ran across. It occurs to Kai that that might mean he should be more wary of things like tricks and illusions but that doesn't stop him from stepping a little closer.

"It means there'll be people who can take care of you, cub. People to teach you the things the oldsters don't have the energy for anymore. You're a wolf. Things will be better for you with a proper pack," Kit assures him, returning the peering with bright green eyes.

"True..." He snickers a little as a thought occurs to him. "It would be nice to hunt with people who aren't complaining about their feet and back hurting the whole time.

A little black car put-puts up.

It makes a soft meep, then drives around in a very tight circle a few times before finally settling down, very much like a large dog going to sleep.

The car's advice seems to be: "Relax".

More large talking mechanical things. o_o Kai thinks to himself that he will never get used to that.

He laughs, a little nervously. "Easier said than done."

A curious beep?

The little car makes a soft sputtering noise, then her speakers start playing what can only be discribed as 'elevator music' -- well, she's trying to help, anyway.

Kai looks a little bemused, but he is smiling a little at least.

"Is that what you were made to do, make music? Or... were you made?" He doesn't know how this sentient machine thing works, after all.

"I find it helps to wander around and spend time with the locals. Nothing quite makes you feel at home like painting the town all red and chunky."

"Viscera give everything a very three-dimensional artsy look. Like textured paint, but organic and environmentally safe!"

"I don't know what viscera is." It's an awfully big word, after all.

"I always go to the local cafe in this first day or two see if they make decent coffee. Also a good place to meet people."

"What's a cafe? ...Or coffee?" He's not sure if they have those things when and where he is, but they might! It will be something to look into.

"Coffee is the best thing in the world. It's a hot drink that tastes like heaven. And cafes are places that make cafe and other drinks but beware of some cafes; they claim to make coffee but there is no way the crap they're making is coffee. Starbucks is good though."

"Ohhh. So... it's kind of like tea?" Kai has had tea a few times. It is the closest thing he can think of to the description he's hearing.

There's a cat watching him - that was the agreement, to watch over Kai - and swishing his tail impatiently. Some of those conversations were more irritating than usual.

Well, yes, the one involving cat guts would probably leave a very bad taste in his mouth. >.>

Would Kai be able to spot the cat? Would he be reccognizable by scent?

Ooooooh yes. Hawkins still smelled faintly of rotting meat, and he was making no effort to hide the fact that he was watching Kai.

Which means there's nothing keeping Kai from walking over to where Hawkins is.

"Hey. If you're who I think you are... I heard about everything." Which isn't meant to mean anything particular, but Kai wants to make sure he knows who is watching him and is waiting for a reaction from Hawkins to confirm his suspicions.
