10 months since my last update...

... and I am currently in Senegal, doing Peace Corps service in the city of Richard Toll. My last LJ entry looks absolutely absurd in comparison. I don't know if most of you still even log on to LJ anymore, but I just wanted to drop a line to see who still reads this. I assume that I keep in contact with most of you via Facebook and email now, so holler if you'd like more regular updates.

In sum, my life is still as ridiculous as ever; I will try to be better at keeping in touch and regaling all of you with my sub-Saharan exploits. I was assigned to the urban agriculture program here in Peace Corps Senegal, and am taking over the site of a super-volunteer who ends his service in May. Suffice to say, 10 days into the start of the rest of my life here, and I am gloriously exhausted-- for those of you who know me, this is a good thing. I work in a hospital garden in the mornings and afternoons, and help out in another one being started up by a women's group.

In my free time, I attempt to come up with witty retorts to the questions, "Do you have a husband?" "Do you eat your money?" and "You are enjoying yourself?" to the best of my intermediate Wolof abilities. At the moment, a sty in my eye is turning into yet another staph infection nightmare, but I've already had my baptism into African skin afflictions 2 months ago. Inchallah (god-willing), photos will be forthcoming.

Alright, off for lunch, which by the way, never disappoints. I never thought I'd love fish and rice (the national dish is called ceebujen) this much.
