Malorie Blackman has been awarded an OBE in the latest honours list.

3. What's an OBE? S/he is an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (no, I don't have an opinion on whether people should accept the "Empire" label although, for the record, some people such as Benjamin Zephaniah do have strong opinions on the subject).
ETA: Apparently Chiwetel Ejiofor was awarded an OBE too (and Don Warrington... although probably not for his appearances in Red Dwarf and Doctor Who, heh):
