We took my laptop to Geek Squad at Best Buy. Turns out they couldn't fix it in the store, they had to send it away elsewhere. The guy said the hard drive or ram might be bad. Unfortunately, this means I'm not going to have my laptop for a while because it won't be 2 or 3 weeks before I hear back from them. We also paid to have some of my files backed up just in case it is the hard drive, like my iTunes music and game data. Those are the two main things; I don't really care much if I lose the other stuff. Worst case scenario, probably unlikely to happen, but would be they can't fix it, so I would need to have my laptop replaced with another one. That would be a real bummer because my laptop wasn't even two years old yet and it breaks? It would probably be because I use it way too much. :P Also it wouldn't matter what brand I got for the replacement laptop, which is nice. This stuff is all covered by our extended warranty too (backing up files is not) so it's a good thing we got it extended. Still going to be tough surviving without my laptop that long. At least I'm not without the internet. This is what my laptop looks like right now
I also popped in the bookstore. I read this book a few years ago called Footprints of Thunder by James F. David. It's about dinosaurs that get transported to the modern world via what's known as "time quilts." For instance, what was once New York city is now home to a cretaceous forest occupied by dinosaurs. Past and present intersect, humans encounter dinosaurs, a lot of them die, and it's just a fun thrilling read. Premise is kind of based on unbelievable pseudoscience, but the book was written for entertainment, not accuracy. I read it one summer, and I think it was my most fun and memorable summer read ever. I'm only sad I can't seem to find this book now, I know it's somewhere inside the house.
Now, that's kind of beside the point, but I just found out a couple of days ago the author decided to write a sequel to this book. So, I got excited and just had to pick it up and start reading it and visit this story again. It's called Thunder of Time. It's ten years later. They thought they stopped the "time quilt" problem once and for all, but now it's happening again and this time it's not just dinosaurs, but prehistoric mammals too. Looking forward to more fun and bloodshed. :P
Bolt came out today. Woo! I feel like I've been waiting for ages for it to come out.
