Day 3: The Vatican Museum

Jun 04, 2024 13:53

The worst thing about the time change is that I have to go to sleep when I’m feeling wide awake.

We went to the Vatican Museum today. The place was jam-packed with people. The artwork was interesting. So was the Sistine Chapel, but it was wall-to-wall people. I got yelled at because you're not supposed to take pictures in the Sistine Chapel, and I was carrying my cell phone with the camera image on, but I wasn't taking pictures. I was blown away by St. Peter's Basilica. It is so ornate. Our guide said that humbleness and modesty have nothing to do with Romans, and I would say the same about the Catholic Church. Afterward, we went to a Vatican gift shop, but I remained outside and got an iced tea and a gelato.

The guide also said that the Rome part of the trip is grueling, Florence is better, and Venice is really like a vacation. LOL. So I have some hope.

When we got back, I took a nap because I was exhausted. We get a "free time" dinner tonight, and I think that I'll just cross the street and have something. I'm too tired to walk any distance. When I went there, another person from the program was there and we had dinner together. He was easy to talk to.

Now I'm going to go to bed early.

Looking at the crowds of people!
