Day 1 in Michigan

Apr 09, 2024 06:50

I got up early after not enough sleep. Breakfast in the hotel was okay; they had a mini spinach and swiss cheese quiche that I liked. Then I headed over to Mom's house to meet with the handyman and real estate agent.

Oy. I knew that the wallpaper had to come down and the place needed to be painted. But the floors need to be refinished, the carpeting needs to be replaced (though I kind of knew that), and they want to replace the linoleum in the kitchen and update the kitchen and bathrooms. This is going to cost $$$. Did I say oy? The handyman said that there was eight weeks worth of work on the house. (It does look awful though without the furniture.)

The good news is that the pump on the pond is working, but they need to muck it out.

The estate sale people left a ton of stuff piled in the bathrooms, and I need to get rid of it before I leave. I'm wondering if I'll need to stay an extra day.

The pet sitter sent me pics of the girls this morning. I miss them, even Zara who has been stressy and testy lately.

Napped over lunch. I'll DoorDash some food after my 2 PM CDT/3 PM EDT meeting. That'll be after the eclipse too. I don't have eclipse glasses, so I'm not going outside to look at it. It'll be around 99% here. I've got NASA's live stream on though.

I think that I'll DoorDash from a deli for lunch (done), and DoorDash dinner from Ram's Horn.

I ordered too much food for lunch. The other half of the enormous corned beef sandwich probably will be dinner. And I saved the cheesecake for later too.

Took a nap after work and slept for 13 hours.
