Holy crap, the awards season is still trudging along. Make it stop! Thankfully now that the BAFTAs are done we are truly on the road to Oscar and the end (finally) to awards season. Until then.

It's fascinating to speculate which roles Dean would have played, had he lived. My guess is he would have been a huge favourite of the 60's counter-culture directors and maybe chipped in to some of Brando's roles.

Pier Angeli died young too, such a beauty.

I think so too. And people say that he was already interested in directing so I could see him toggling in both worlds.

Pier Angeli died young too, such a beauty.

So tragic, the both of them.

I think he was part of the new wave of acting back then.

It was an exciting time for Method actors; more visceral actors.

Helen dyed her hair pink!

And it's adorable! She's the best. She always have fun on the red carpet.

Helena Bonham Carter's dress looks pretty normal.

Yeah, it's pretty simple for her. She's not even holding her usual pair of lips purse she carries.

I haven't seen the Silver Linings Playbook but don't get the buzz about it either.

OUt of all the movies that's come out I don't know what made it resonate with people. My coworkers had been pushing me to see it because I really had no intentions of watching it.

I suppose Dean might have gone the way of Brando, that is reclusive, overweight weirdo/genius. Or Clift, haunted alcoholic. Or Hopper, always an outsider. Or Rock Hudson... I've always loved Dean. That scene in East of Eden when he tries to stuff the money in his father's pockets -- I've read he improvised that so Raymond Massey's shock was genuine there. It is a shame we lost him so soon but his brilliance is never dimmed.

I adore Helen's new pink hair! She can do no wrong! :)

And I was underwhelmed with Silver Linings Playbook. I didn't hate it but I don't get the raves either. It was pretty generic, imho.

I would hope that Dean would've had a long career like Hopper or even Hudson. But he seemed to be always searching. He probably would've dropped out of Hollywood and went overseas to act or drop out completely.

She is glorious! I love her.

Nothing stood out about it at all. I don't get what appealed to so many. It's a mystery.

And I Just Saw it.... chatchien February 12 2013, 00:57:29 UTC

I'm back from seeing Silver Linings Playbook or Excelsior!but not Lex and Ollie's Old School and Doing it Old School Under the Bed covers.

My favorite David O. Russell film is Flirting With Disaster, every thing in that film is just perfect. Mr. Russell wrote great women characters for that film.

In SLP, Mr. Russell didn't even bother to write a part for Jennifer Lawrence, she just had to improvise and look inscrutable. She had as much character as Pat's Ex-wife---not much. Why did any of them other than Julia Stiles and her character do anything? I don't know. None of it made any sense. Miss Lawrence's character, Tifani?, was the male idea of a mysterious film noir woman. Or Tifani was a twelve year old boy's idea of Womanhood. I just can't describe how much I hated the character, but Miss Lawrence was game and did her best with what she didn't have in the script.

I suppose that I hated her character so much because I had just seen Winter's Bone and she was divine in that film and with that role. Now that was a character who was ( ... )

It would've been way better had it been *that* Excelsior.

It was Manic Pixie Girl without the Pixie.

I have to see if Jacki Weaver got a nom for this role because I don't see how Jen Lawrence did but I really can't see how Jacki Weaver would've when all she did was stand around and ocassionally referee.
