been writing. can't stop thinking.

i have had a story in my head for several years. i have several stories, actually, that i combined in a notebook of "story ideas for which i would write if i ever found the time to write anything," and now that i have time, i picked one of them out that i haven't ever gotten out of my brain. mostly, because i wanted to see how it ends. it's like taking dictation from a movie in my mind.

technical writing is writing what i see on-screen and what (theoretically) should happen when the user presses this or that button.

creative writing is writing what i see and hear going on when i watch the story unfold in my mind and what happens when the characters do this or that. if i think, "i will make this one a lawyer," but they aren't a lawyer, they don't get to be a lawyer. it's really weird. it's like i just let the story unfold and document what they are doing.

i haven't written like this since college. or, maybe ever. i'm just seeing where this goes. i have no set "goals" per se like "by X date i want to have X number of pages!!!" i just want to see where my story is going.

i have my story arc written and my character backgrounds and attributes drafted, it's just ... documenting it!!

(still waiting to hear about the paying job though, but in the meantime, at least i'm not bored. i start dipping into my savings at the end of the month. yikes.)
