i have had a story in my head for several years. i have several stories, actually, that i combined in a notebook of "story ideas for which i would write if i ever found the time to write anything," and now that i have time, i picked one of them out that i haven't ever gotten out of my brain. mostly, because i wanted to see how it ends. it's like ( Read more... )

That's so wonderful. Stephen King said once that he found writing to be like an archaeological dig, where each word was a brush uncovering what happens next. And I gotta say, it's amazing how smoothly things go when you're really cooking. I'm so glad you're having that experience.

BTW, what genre are you writing? Litfic, fantasy, what?

i have fantasy fiction stories in the brain too, but this one in particular is your basic modern-day 30-something single girl relationship romantic comedy. wacky hijinx. etc. but not the steamy bodice ripper type romance.

anyway, the story won't let go and has been bothering me for at least three or four years since i first thought of it and thought, "i'd totally read that!"

i know there are probably meeeeeeelyons of other authors out there writing about the same thing, but i suppose that is true of all the other genres too.

I think between yoga and writing you will be totally rejuvenated by the time your new job starts. This sounds awesome. And there's a reason lots of people try writing 30-something single girl stories - lots of people like to read them!
