So, it had taken her seven minutes, not five, but she'd had a bit of an issue with figuring out what to do with her hair before she'd settled for just braiding it. After a last check in the mirror and snagging one of her fluffy bath towels, Dani had hurried across to the pool.
There were so many nice things to be said for living on the first floor, she realized with a grin. Granted, she had to put up with the sounds from the lounge on occasion, but it had been eerily quiet lately.
After dropping her towel down on the bench, she glanced around 'til she spotted him. "So we meet again," she called teasingly before she started to take off her rings and earrings, reasoning she should have done that upstairs - but she hadn't thought about it then. Oh, well.
"So indeed we do." The brighter side to being a guy, it took a lot less time to change. That and maybe he even rushed just a little for reasons unknown. What he did know, is that in his rushing he damn near sent himself ass over heels down the final flight of steps. Not that he'd even come close to admitting that out loud.
He fiddled with the band around his right ring finger as he casually watched her remove the jewelry she had donned herself with. At least Adam had made the Comm Links waterproof. Even if he hadn't he still wouldn't take it off.
However he let the fiddling get the best of him as he completely submerged himself in it for a bit. So by the time she were done, he wouldn't have noticed it. He as half leaned against a chair of some sort as the muscles in his forearm twitched with the fiddling.
Dani glanced over to him, pale brows elevating before she stepped to the edge of the pool. Most people said you should just jump right in, but she preferred to ease herself into things - at least when it came to water. So she circled 'round to the shallow end to start down the stairs there. "Coming in?" she called over to him.
But he had seemed a bit ... distracted? Maybe he was having second thoughts on the matter - or first day moodswings. She'd had a fair few of those herself the first couple of days, really, but she'd come to more or less accept her given situation now. Things were what they were. She was here, she was needed, and she'd stay. Stick it out as long as she could, and then ... see where things went from there.
Her words broke him from his little daydream. "Hn..yeah. I'm comin' in." He pushed himself from the chair and made his way towards the edge of the pool. While she took the stairs approach he went for the less subtle. Finding the edge, he didn't quite jump in. Instead, he dropped to sit at the edge of the shallow end. No need to head straight for the deep-end. Not yet at least.
Finally easing himself into the water, not that it was cold; the water was fine, but there was no need to make a splash. Settling himself into the giant mass of liquid he made his way to the blonde. "Taking the slower approach?" He chuckled softly before dipping below the surface and reappearing shortly after. Hands would come up to slick his now wet locks back to keep them from straying into his face.
"Slow and steady," she semi-quoted at him before she stepped the rest of the way in. She arched into the water before she surfaced on her back, kicking a little with her feet but trying not to splash. "I 'ave never been a fan of simply leaping in," she murmured to him as she wiped the water out of her eyes. "Do you swim a lot at 'ome?" she inquired as she started to stroke around while still remaining on her back.
Then she wondered if he even wanted to talk about home, so she made a gesture to wave it off if he wasn't inclined to. Not everyone was comfortable talking to strangers about the place they'd just been torn from.
Arching her back, she performed a backwards somersault in the water before surfacing again, standing on the bottom of the pool and moving her arms slightly for balance.
"Slow and steady?" He snickered softly as he questioned her words, though he wasn't in a real need-to-know basis about that. Her question of home brought a small frown to his features but not enough to really distress him. He took a moment to think about said place and what he was taken from. "Home.." Lips pursed for a second before he took up the ability to formulate works again. "..Eh. Swimming and I don't usually go hand in hand. I tend not to make a huge habit of it. But the occasional dip is fine."
It's not that he didn't enjoy swimming. It was fun. He liked it. It was the fact that water and electricity didn't mesh. But as he thought earlier, as long as didn't send a Tesla coil, or a jet propulsion flying out he'd be fine. No fried Brennan on the menu tonight.
He gave a small clap at her stunt. Sure he could flip around on land, water, not so much. Sure he could to simple things here and there, but now was not about the time to find out Bren's water tricks or lack there of.
She laughed at his clapping, flushing slightly before she shook her head. She hadn't done it for applause; it was simply the most graceful way to get off her back.
"We did not 'ave a pool at home, but some summers we would go to the lake. Ashley - she is my big sister - and I taught ourselves to swim there," she murmured. "We'd make our older brother crazy. 'e was always cautioning us against going out too deep, and Ashley always did. But she liked to torment 'im."
Dani shook her head. "There is a girl 'ere who looks like 'er. Like my Ashley. It is very disconcerting to see her and realize she is not my sib." Apparently Danielle was about sharing random facts this evening. Well, it wouldn't be the first time.
"That must be confusing to see someone who reminds you of a friend or family." He wasn't too sure how he'd handle seeing someone that looked vaguely familiar to someone he knew, especially if it were someone who looked like Shal..or Emma for that fact. That was something he didn't feel like dwindling on so he shoved the thought from his head.
"Back home, Sanctuary had anything we needed really." Of course that didn't really mean it had a pool or not. But that was besides the point. Again he ducked under the surface, though he remained under longer than previously. He only opted to come back up when he needed to take another breath of air.
This time he took a more outgoing approach to remove the droplets of water from his face. With a soft, dog like shake he sent the water flying in every direction. At least there were still enough distance between the two of them to prevent her from getting hit by they flying excess beads of water.
"Confusing, until she opens 'er mouth. Ashley still 'ad an accent, even after all 'er time in England." Dani still harbored some hope that Ash would show up, but from what she heard, the girl who looked like her sister also looked like a girl - ironically named Ashley as well - from the States who was part of the witch's coven.
The body triplicate would be highly, highly unnerving if all of them were here. So Dani supposed it was best there was only Katrina. "It was 'ard to deal with. She was one of the ones that I was called in to 'eal the first day I arrived. It was ... shocking to see someone I thought was my sister laying in a bed in the infirmary."
Dani shivered a little at the recollection. It hadn't been Ashley, obviously, but that first heart-stopping moment would stick with her for a while.
She grinned as she watched him shake off the water, but he was far enough away she wasn't affected. "This place seems to 'ave everything anyone could ask for," Dani murmured. "I 'aven't wanted for anything yet."
"Yeah I'd imagine so. I don't know what I'd do if I saw someone whom looked like Shalimar..or Emma. Especially Emma, she's..well she's been gone for a year now." Brennan wasn't overly fond of the memory the mere mention of deLauro's name brought up. But not like he could do anything about it. "But..a part of me still thinks Adam has her stashed somewhere." He nodded firmly to this. Even after he had comforted Shal the next few weeks prior, he still told her, and Jesse too, that Emma might still be out there. Granted the evidence against that thought was tough to combat with

Dani had reasoned it was only a matter of time before the splashing started. He was a boy, they were in a pool, it was one of those inevitable things. She laughed as she lifted up her hands to block the splash before she tried to splash him back. If she'd had her wand ... but it was sitting over with her towel.
"Then I 'ope no one shows up who looks like them," Dani said. She was of the mind that not everyone should have to suffer through things like that. Sure, she was aware that Kat wasn't Ashley, but it was still unnerving.
"So what is ... if you don't mind me asking, what is Sanctuary? Is it like a..." she hesitated. "Like a school, or a facility?" She couldn't quite pick up on it from context. Though for all she knew it was a town or a planet.
"It's bound to happen sooner or later. So I might as well start bracing myself for it now. Hell maybe I'll luck out and it'll actually be them. Fat chance of that happening really. With the denial and all. But the fuck with it. Roll with the punches as they're dealt. That would be something Brennan would have to get used to all over again. Well, good thing he's learned to handle some odd shit. Not that he was the spitting image of normal himself. Not in any variety of the confounded word

Dani nodded her understanding to his explanation. Well, she kind of understood. Some of the technical things were lost on her, but she reasoned, in utter fairness, even the Muggle Studies experts would flounder a bit with those terms.
That was her story, and she was sticking to it.
"We 'ave a few places like that back 'ome. There are some villages scattered around Europe for mostly wizarding sorts, and of course the schools are like sanctuaries. Guarded and warded and what not." She smiled faintly, but she could relate at having to keep ones true self secret from the rest of society.
Easing away, she started to swim around a little. Nothing strenuous, just playing about in the water.
"It wasn't so much a place to keep ourselves hidden" Okay that was a bit of a lie, but not fully. "..but a place to keep us all in one spot. Granted we have the Comm Links for that. It just made things easier. You know, helped keep us with in reaching distance. Plus it allowed Adam to run tests whenever he needed to make sure our genetic make up as still in sync. Kept an eye on our DNA mutations and such." Was he babbling? Yes. It was out of habit, he missed his old life. Everyone here probably felt the same.
Here he thought tales of Merlin were just that, tales. Guess in a sense he was wrong. He seemed to be wrong a lot lately. Nothing new. He watched with mild amusement as she began to swim around. This was a pool after, swimming is generally what most people did when in such a location. Well there were other options but, yeah he wouldn't dare think of that. He just had to keep reminding himself that while water did indeed make him weak, it didn't make him useless

She nodded, but she was content enough to let the conversation lapse. She wondered what tomorrow would bring, and when Chaos was going to have a turn. It was hard to tell, from what she'd heard; there was no schedule or pattern to things.
Once she'd had her fill of the water - so to speak - Danielle moved to the edge to pull herself out. Perching on the ledge, she was content enough to watch him swim. She sort of wondered if he'd be inclined to keep hanging out, or if he'd want some time to get to know the town on his own. Some people liked solitary exploration, after all.
Honestly he had enough of the water bit since he practically set foot in the pool. This time he took the leisurely way out, using the stairs; since by the time he had finished swimming it was closer to him than the edge was. Grabbing a hold of the railing he pulled himself from the water and back onto what he would at least consider dry land. Save for the fact that hew as dripping wet.
At least he figured he'd dry quickly. Shouldn't take too long. Though he made sure to use his hands to shake the water from his dark hair before making his way over to where Danielle had gotten out. Muscle tensed as the air finally caught onto his wet skin, earning a mild, but quickly tossed aside, shiver.
