It's called being a good wife. [Open to mybrothershadow ]

She left work early because she could. They were ahead of schedule right now, so slowing down to being just a little ahead of schedule instead of overly efficient wouldn't hurt. Besides, when her department started really getting ahead of themselves, she heard nothing but complaints that Lucius was going to think they were being paid too much. She knew they were joking, but everyone deserved a little break for doing a good job sometimes.

Peter was bored, she knew that much. He'd decided on taking a little break before going back to work, but when she left for Gotham in the morning, she always took Henry with her. He loved daycare, and she didn't want to disrupt his schedule. Peter had plenty of time to play with him when they were at home. She could have easily left Henry with him, but he'd miss his friends. It didn't seem fair to change things around just because their lives were hectic. They weren't supposed to let that show with Henry, anyway. So Peter got left in a near-empty apartment, with one dog who loved him and another one who was sort-of afraid of him.

It was kind of funny.

She set Henry down so that she could take out her keys, smiling when he tugged on the strap of her handbag. It was green, which meant she'd known he was going to try for it. Sometimes he couldn't resist. She unlocked the door and pushed it open, letting Henry run in ahead of her so that he could find the dogs.

"Peter!" Every time she walked into the apartment, she was always a little afraid that he wouldn't be there. Nathan's operation had been shut down, but that didn't mean that everyone was going to stop coming after them. "We're home."
