Thank you sweety, she always asks about you, she will be very touched and hopefully crack a smile about the neon pinkyness of your hair.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I'm sure she'll come through OK. I'm glad they caught it early, that makes a big difference.

My 5 year old doesn't know how to swim either. And like you, I was taught early. I lived near the water, went to the ocean routinely, and took lessons every summer right up through lifeguard training and certification. I worked on the beach, taught swimming lessons at summer camps, and *still* I haven't taken the time to teach my kid to swim. We started when he was three, but things got busy, the community center (pool) membership got too expensive, blah, blah, blah.

We've been talking a lot about making a concentrated effort to fix this over the winter, membership prices be damned.

Phew, I am glad I am not the only one. Guilt shared is so much easier to bear.

You know, if you lived at Camelot you could use the pool there to teach your kid, I'm just sayin'. :) I am selfish, I want ALL my friends to live there.

My 5yo is just learning to swim, and I wouldn't call her a swimmer yet. 4yo isn't even near knowing how. 8yo can swim but isn't confident. It takes time and practice, and eventually they will get it.

Ellery just got over Lyme Disease. She had 1-2 really sick days (aches, fever), and one bullseye spot (itchy/painful), and then the antibiotics kicked in and she bounced back very fast. (She had never previously had antibiotics, and I avoid them whenever I can, so that was my big huge struggle there...to give them or not...but it was definitely the right decision.) Hugs to your mom! Hope she bounces back just as a fast as Ellery did.

Those are pretty much exactly the symptoms my mom has. So far the antibiotics don't seem to have helped that much although she did say she was feeling less naseous today. She has only been on them for 3 days.

Sometimes Western medicine wins, I just wish they took a more comprehensive view, not everything can be fixed with pills.

Thank you! Mom is very into the alternative medicine thing, she has treated her fibromaylsia herself with supplements quite successfully. I will pass all this along and see what I can pick up for her. I should have thought of the garlic, it's such a great natural antibiotic.

Ah, poor thing! Tell her to take it easy!

I think that, next summer, I may hire a local teenage lifeguard to teach the Camelot kids swimming lessons. Interested?

fuck, I am so sorry to hear that your mom has Lyme disease! Man, I hope she gets better soon. :( Jake's friend had it once and it was basically a month on antibiotics and then he was fine. She'll be okay, honey. *HUGS*

Hang in there, and let us know if we can help. Love you.
