Hey dudes and dudettes! I'm sitting here still wound-up and full of nervous energy, and my toes are freezing. The show tonight went pretty well! None of us screwed up royally. It was a strange night, because there was some special hip hop thing going on too, so it was like, some guy playing acoustic Melvins songs with a drum machine, a DJ/MC spinning PHRESH BEETZ, us (garage-bluesy rock with a bit of a classic rock tint), and then some hip hop crew from Chicago. Haha. Really odd, but it was fun, and some of our friends came to check us out, and a bunch of the hip hop dudes came up afterward and said they really dug our set, so that was hilariously great.
I wasn't all that nervous until I actually got onstage, then my nerves set it. My stomach, hands and legs were all a-flutter, but I pushed through. We were havin' some bad luck because Dave found out tonight that one of his bass rigs (the one he planned on using tonight) is busted, and his other one has a burnt-out tube and it's too big for Biff's car, so he had to just plug right into the PA at the bar, which was sorta lame but it got us through. He's gonna buy some new tubes this weekend so his one rig will be in order for next Wednesday's show, which I'm looking forward to now because I know the sound on that side of the Casbah is a trillion times better than the lounge.
So yeah! Am I crushing my fears in my fist or what, dudes? Planes - been there, done that now! Accomplished for the first time in February '08, and after I get back from NOLA, I'll have been on a plane 6 times! Ocean - went in up to my shoulders in Florida in '08, went crazy in Jamaica doing scuba diving, parasailing, boat touring, etc... and now I check off singing in front of an audience. It's nice to get the first show out of the way. Now I kind of know what to expect. I'm sure I'll get a lot more comfortable onstage after the first bunch of shows. Tonight I was a bit shy, and sang with my eyes closed a lot, but I made a point to make some eye contact once in awhile. I hated the stupid mic stand I had to use... it was a boom-style one; I like the standard straight up-and-down ones, I make love to mine at practice haha ;)
Sorry to blab on and on about the band stuff! Ha. I'm just a dork and this was/is a big deal to me.
Brody gave me a classic Cynics album tonight. That was pretty rad. Apparently he did some cd clean-outs with his collection or something.
Fuck my toes are cold! But I refuse to put on socks. My piggies can suffer, they're troopers... they've had to put up with years of abuse from my ridonkulous shoes.
Bruiser (Dave's kitty, my adopted child) is currently licking the inner edge of the cat bowl. She's so weird. Sometimes she chews me and Dave's fingernails and toenails. And she loves being completely hidden under blankets, crawling inside of and sitting in plastic grocery bags, and sitting on or in cardboard boxes. Cardboard is like crack to her.
I'm so bored and awake but I don't have any idea what to do with myself right now! Argh!
this guy is kvlt as fvck.
