Romance, generally speaking, is just Not My Thing. I don’t go to the Romance section of the book store, or the video store. December is The Month of Nothing, where I get the whole month off, guilt free, from writing. It didn't work so well last year because I picked up Rising Storm again near the end of the month. I missed it last year, but this year I decided to go on the twin cities write-in tour. I started at stop #2, Uncommon Grounds in Uptown. At 77,648 words, the first draft of Marked For Life is DONE!

Now it's time for a writing vacation until November. Novel done, Birthday and Halloween coming up ... I think I'm going to spoil myself for the next three weeks. :D

My writing is going slow, but I'm not stressing about it as much. I figure 500 words a day is a good goal, and since I started on that, every day that I've done writing at all, I've hit goal. Oddly, when I tried for 800 or 1000 words a day, I ended up having days of 150 or 300 something words. Maybe it's the pressure ( Read more... )

I'm moving my projected word count to 60,000 for Marked For Life. It's already at 52k.

I'm reading over Crossbreed and there is so, so much rewriting I need to do. :(

So, the first draft of Marked For Life isn't going to be 45,000 words. Because it's already 48,000 and I'm not done yet. Here I thought I was going to write a story, and it's almost gotten to the size of a novel.
