Food and book dump.

Super hardcore spicy pickled chinese long beans with turkey breast that was unbelievably tender. I pickled it myself! But then the pickling fluid was too spicy to reuse. A huge bowl of rice + green beans + empty bowl which would soon be filled with peppers (1:5 ratio, probably). Part of the super gratuitous dietary regime I was on, expecting Africa to be filled with non-gratuitous food instead of cringe-worthy weight gain. I'm losing it pretty quickly, though, once I reverted back to normal meal sizes and no exercise.

I have to make this again. It was too delicious and I am hungry just thinking about it, even though I ate three hours ago.

Breakfast, post-Africa! Overcooked rice + raw egg (white was cooked by the time I took the picture), sukju namul, and kimchi. Took maybe half and hour to make? First time making sukju namul, so it took a long time, but mmmmmm. Need to make it again, soon!

Before:

After mixing with furikake, disgusting-looking but delicious:

Bean sprouts, close up:

Lunch from the same day. Spinach salad tossed with a hummus, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and black pepper dressing and sweet & sour lotus root and potato salad (chinese salads <3) --> made from light soy sauce, apple vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, scallion oil, and sesame seeds <3. Spinach was meh. Tastes better with sardine oil.

Dinner from the same day. Stir fry lamb on top of rice, with the remaining sukju namul. Supposed to be lamb with naga negi, but obviously didn't put enough dark soy sauce in it. That was a really good food day.

I was recovering from absolute lethargy and post-shitload-of-laundry mood, so a couple of days later, couscous salad. Was trying to get rid of the spinach and start on the sliced meat. It was all right, really great at first, but once I reached the bottom... meh.

Freakishly good pasta the next day (to get rid of the salami in a yeast-less way), but it looks like all tomato-based pasta sauces. Er, ate the chicken feet before taking pictures, and instant noodles with beansprouts must be eaten immediately! Made eggplant soup for today's dinner, but it looks really disgusting, so... XD Breakfast was cacao banana bread sweetened with lavender honey and topped with nutella right before serving, but it's just a really black loaf and I ate a huge chunk before remembering the camera.

Bookoff haul, pre-Africa trip:

Front & back, with freakishly good prices. Gave Vinyl Cafe Diaries to Rose, since she didn't have any! Very surprising. Doubutsu no Oishasan by Sasaki Noriko is a really cute veterinarian manga with really cute animals. Old school art, but not shoujo-fied. I kind of want a husky. It's just a coincidence my new three-piece duffel bag luggage has a cute husky embroidered in a discreet corner. >>

WTF, CANADIAN PRICES. WTFFFFFFFFFFF.

Books I bought today at great prices! I've never consumed so much non-fiction happily before. (Of course, the corresponding amount of Deadliest Catch and porn well, corresponds, but you know, healthy book-reading and all.) I feel so nerdy. People go pub crawling. I go bookstore crawling on my way back from dropping off a bag to be fixed for a loose stitch.

The backs are normal book backs.

Huhuhuhu. Organized bookshelves a bit. I have just about enough room without starting another double-stacked layer. I found a book I've been meaning to read for a long while, Adam Bede by George Eliot. But first, I must finish the three books from the library... which I haven't visited in agesssss. I also came away with eight books from the 5/$1 bin! =D Finished The Commitment by Dan Savage (Finished The Kid on the plane on the way there + back.) so quickly - I stayed up until 3 am and I was exhausted. Woah, this new falling-asleep-during-a-reasonable-hour-re:-not-3AM lifestyle has me getting exhausted after 12am. I'm on Skipping Towards Gomorrah at the moment, which I'm not enjoying as much as the other two, but it's still quite easy to read and engaging. Going to reread Extreme Vinyl Cafe by Stuart Mclean after. It is so, so, so nice to be reading actual books for enjoyment rather than pain and suffering. Novel, literally. XDDD Oh god, such a cold joke.

I know why this took so long. It's a pain to code everything. =__= But. BOOK READING AND FOOD. (And post-finding sunglasses which will actually be supported on my nose bridge after hours but pre-pick-up.) HAPPINESS.
