Intro post Ellie Linton

Ellie was trudging along the side of the highway, well. Not the side of it, she'd be easily spotted there. She was further to the side, skulking amongst the bushes, it was only a day ago she'd stolen the food from the soldier's bike but her stomach was screaming for more. She hadn't had a decent meal since she was in New Zealand. Before she'd ( Read more... )

Alice hated the lobby, but from time to time she managed to wander down there. New people trickled in on occasion, and she thought it would be nice for them to see a friendly face. She'd arrived with John, and it had done wonders for her adjusting to the Hotel (despite the obvious fact that she'd fallen in love with him). Having someone that you could point to and say that even though you were alone, you knew their name, their story. It helped.

She had her hands in her jeans pocket and was about to round the corner when she heard a girl gasp. Alice looked at her. She had dark hair, and the sort of eyes that said she had things to tell that you'd never find out. Alice's sort of person.

"Hello."

Ellie blinked a few times at the woman. She warily took a step in, eyes never leaving the woman before her. She didn't look like one of the Soldiers, but that didn't mean the woman wasn't a Settler. They were almost as bad, coming and stealing everyone else's homes. Making her friends and family act as their slaves.

"Hi." The sentence short and clipped. There were a million and one things she wanted to ask Alice; 'where am I?', 'who are you?', 'are we both dead?', 'is the War over yet?'

Ellie, however, kept her silence.

Alice noticed that the girl looked a little bit uneasy. She didn't move. She was used to patrons coming into the club with the same look. The girls that gave them lapdances always came back plus a few bruises.

She smiled what she hoped looked like a welcoming smile. "Have you just arrived?"

Ellie hesitantly took a step forwards, this was an adult...she knew inherently that she should trust adults, but the events in the last year...the Soldiers, Major Harvey, the POW camps and even to a certain extent Colonel Findley and the Kiwi soldiers (even though they were the good guys) had managed to hurt her or her friends some how.
