An explination

In case any of you have been wondering about the odd change in my journal, please see my intro page and that should explain things a little better. Also, I wanted to give a brief explanation as to why I was gone so long. I know that it was a pretty normal occurrance for me to disappear for long stretches then return, but this time was a bit different. In March my mom was admitted to the hospital one night because she had woken up 2 days earlier with her eyes full of blood. It literally looked like they were going to bleed any moment. It was horrible. Her medical doctor ran some blood work and found out that her blood platelets were extremely (dangerously) low so he told her that she had to go to the hospital. She was admitted and the next day was diagnosed with Leukemia. Acute Myelogenous Leukemia to be exact. She spent the next month in the hospital getting chemo, blood, platelets, iv fluids, antibiotics, and more. There for a while we really wasn't sure if she was going to make it or not. After watching my father pass away from Cancer back in 1991, this was extremely difficult for me to deal with. I was basically on auto-pilot the whole time. On April 7th she was released from the hospital. She had a pic-line in her arm so she was still able to receive her chemo treatments as out-patient, which was great. She had a nurse come see her twice a week and both my sister and brother were staying with her to help take care of things. Because of her strength and determination, Mom has made a full recovery. Well, not quite full, but she no longer receives chemo and had the pic-line removed. She has to go once a month to get her blood checked just to make sure that everything is doing well and she is slowly regaining her strength.

I wasn't going to come back to Live Journal due to these issues and others involving some other journal members, but decided that giving up something that I need/love wasn't something I was truly willing to do. Instead of being concerned about these people, I have chosen to ignore them. I think that is best all the way around. I have also decided to dedicate this journal to my mental health instead of just the everyday b.s. that goes on. (See intro page) I started another blog to focus on the everyday stuff.

So that is a brief summary of where I was and why. I am now working 2 full time jobs so I don't get a lot of free time to journal. I try to keep up on everyone elses journals, but most times there just isn't enough time in order to. It is nice to be back though, that's for sure.
