i'm exhausted and should be sleeping
instead, i remembered that i haven't let you all know how my first few days of work have been.
and by work, i mean "work". which means 2 days of indoctrination into government stuff, followed by hours upon hours of filling out forms as a group, and then hearing presentations on anything you could think of relating to my agency (hows about i'll call it the department of mysteries, or DoM for short?). i start my real work tomorrow after lunch, and then i'll have friday, and then two weeks of "real work", followed by six weeks of more training that is away from my real job. because the DoM is just that awesome.
things i experienced which were cool: getting to take an oath, with my right hand up and everything; playing fun "what is your personality type" games with the HR person running the show; building a structure out of index cards and tape meant to hold up a brick, and succeeding despite the doubts of previously mentioned HR guy; finally FINALLY meeting my future supervisor; picking a health care plan (hurrah - even though it made me want to tear my eyes out in the process of actually choosing); hearing someone compare different personality types in the previously mentioned personality game to characters on "The Office", and then filling in characters for the rest of the types myself (FYI - DiSC, and Michael is D, Jim is i, Pam is S, and Dwight is C. I'm an S); getting a cool DoM decal for my car.
ok. off to bed so i can wake up at an ungodly hour tomorrow and get back to work. but first i should pick out my outfit...
but at least someone is paying me to do something again for the first time in MONTHS.
